The R3V Bicycle Thread

I almost bought one of those, and a friend of mine did. For a first bike, they're just fine. They're a good frame, they have good rims, and are decent bike out of the box. The good thing is that it's a decent frame, so you can just upgrade stuff as you go along. I rode it around for a while, it doesn't feel any different than my Windsor. I would reccomend you get that one.

Cool. I'll order it tomorrow. Can't go wrong on the price.

So I bought this old Malvern Star frame on eBay a couple weeks ago and this Sunday finally had some time to get to work on it.
As you can see in the before pics, it was in dire need of attention.

So I took to it with the wire wheels and here's my progress so far.

I would have left the fram as is and just cleaned up the components. However, it looks really good. Are you going to paint it?

Happy to say I Just got my ass Whipped in my 1st duathlon. Hills on the run and bike and F*ckin hot and sticky in NEW YAWK... But I did get 3rd in my age group. Big frog in a small pond perhaps. If only I had some Tour De france EPO..

Patrick - Buy that bike. It looks great. Its more than likely a Mercier frame aka Fuji aka Windsor. The frames are all made in house in some sweat shot in Taiwan so it doesnt matter. First thing I'd upgrade is the toe straps. Its going to come with some really shitty vinyl ones. Go for the leather .

I have that seat, some hate it, i love it and cant ride one of those skinny boner seats like the windsor has.

btw, I got my fairing for my roof rack and I'll be at the Florida German cookout this Sunday with the rack and bike on the E30 ;)

hahaha you know I'm the only reason he actually saw that car... I posted it on Florida German and he saw it there and decided he had to have it. A month later to Florida it came.

That is pretty fucked up. I know a lot of people get angry when bicyclists are in the road, and I agree that many of them are not only an annoyance, but are just plain stupid. If you are going to be riding a bike on public roads, you need to obey the laws just like any other vehicle.

BUT, there are just as many, or more ass hole drivers that think they own the fucking road and take pleasure in running law abiding bicyclists off the road. I've had it happen a few times, and have even been stricken and knocked off my bike by a passing car's mirror.

At any rate, if you're riding on the roads, be careful out there and wear a helmet.
