because they top out too fast on the decents where a lot of stages are won, among other reasons. those guys on the tour are rocking like a 53-13 ratio or better as their biggest gearing, they'll smoke a fixie on a long straightaway any time. so much of road riding depends on maintaining a cadence and on a fixie your cadence and speed are directly related, not so ona geared bike. lots o reasons really; right tool, right job.

Got a couple of video clips of some friends of my drifting fixies on the uber-slick concrete at a local amphitheater. Yep, that's mostly my goofy ass laughing and commenting.

              Some good ones here:

This one has the best drift at the end:

Well after looking for two days straight now from Kona to Binachi, I just ordered my IRO Jamie Roy. 2-4 week build.

I was looking at a used Bianchi Roger though.. cyclocross that or a Specialized Tricross Singlecross; but for the money IRO seems like a better deal. Plus its a small shop, and I like small shops.

Are any of you guys on bikeforums.net or roadbikereview? Bikeforums seems to have more SS/Fixed than RBR. And more VW guys.

I bought a 58cm no-name all black ebay fixie. Total cost to me - $177 shipped w/ ebay gift cards.

I'm already thinking about some non machined all black rims
