So, last thursday I took my mountain bike and fixie out to memorial park - the best bit of outdoors in houston. First I hit up the mountain bike trails - which was good fun for about 45 minutes. After that was said and done I grabbed the fixie and rode over to the road bike course. It's 2 lanes paved - ultra curvy winding through some dense woods. It's blocked from all traffic ofcourse - but it occupied by the occasional rollerblader or whatever as well. HOLY shit some of those guys are fast. I was crusing along pretty quickly - passing about half of the road bikers - but some of these guys blew by me like I was walking. I had no idea how fast these guys could travel.
I'm going to re-gear my bike with a 14 or 15 tooth cog and head out again and try to keep up. I also need some damn drop bars but that will come later.
