and tighten up the chain a little bit more
        remove the size sticker
        wheel sticker
and the warning sticker on the fork

need to remove the yellow sticker

            Resurrected!

Although it appears we don't share the same style of riding, our love for these cyclical machines is mutual.

Since I don't have a chainwhip or lockring tool yet, I just had to take my bike down to the LBS to have it all re-tightened after riding for a bit. I had them put my bike on the scale, I wanted to find out what it weighed now after the new wheelset. Came in at 20.3 lbs. I was shocked, I was expecting around 22.

So I finally sold the dirt jumper. Now I can play too. :D

I have 600 dollars, firm budget. What to do... I'm so lost.

                    What do you guys think?

I want to build up a bike... but I also want one NOW and don't have the knowledge to select parts and build up a good bike quickly at a good price.

For 600 Id build up a Kilo with good parts and save down the road for a new frame. Keep your components.

I'm not sure what it is that I'm looking for exactly, as I've never owned a road bike / fixie.

Also, I don't want it to look too appealing as it will be locked up when I'm in class and I've seen a lot of stripped down bikes. At the same time I want it to be nice and enjoyable.

Did you look at the bike in the link? you're thinking that's not a good frame to start with?

Figure out what you want and start from there.
Dont buy a road bike to get a single speed, not for that kind of money at least. You can still do a freewheel on a track frame. Its the geometry and ability to adjust the chain that you're looking for, and track frames provide that. Having a track frame doesnt make you a hipster.
Keep it safe by locking front and rear wheel up if theft is bad. Weinmanns are decent at best. And that Peugeot frame is cool and everything, but the rear triangle looks like shit (geo wise) because its got 700c wheels on it, purposed for 27" wheels. See where Im going with this?

If anything, buy the cheapest track frame possible and put the best used parts possible on it. Front and rear brake if you want to. Fuck it...

But for 600 bones, you can have these brand new:
                            Stock Bianchi Pista
                            Stock Specialized Langster
                            Stock Mercier Kilo (350)

Ive scoop up the Pista if I were you.

Would it be possible to buy something old with gears for 100 dollar range and then with the remaining 500 bucks upgrade and switch out parts as I learn and decide what I want.

I'm not sure if I really want a single speed road bike as the seattle area has a lot of hills.

Like you mentioned though, I think a track frame would be nice. A good geometry I can imagine is the most important. That would be my biggest concern with buying an old road bike...

If you go that route, you just spent 600 dollars on a conversion. Youd be with a stock pista or kilo + money
