    So how was everyone's day?

Mine was great until I went to get something out of my toolbag in my work truck, and noticed that it wasn't there. Yes, someone stole my toolbag and my $200 14.4V DeWalt drill out of the back of my truck last night. And I mean, every tool I have for my job. All my wire strippers, crimpers, my compression tools, my network tools, staple gun, screwdrivers, punchdown tools, specialty A/V tools, all of it. And they left a contractor-grade Dremel and a $175 Milwaukee/Rockford Fosgate jobsite radio. So they didn't take everything, just the stuff I actually need to DO MY JOB. Probably about around $400-600 in total, just gone. And the best part? I can't afford to replace hardly any of it right now. Just thought I'd tell everyone what a great day I've had today.

Wow, that really sucks. That happened to my dad (HVAC guy) but his company payed for everything. Best part is he locked the truck!

Does the truck have an open trunk bed? How accessible was this bag?

That's the shitty part, and where it's probably my fault. The truck has a canopy on it that doesn't lock, but my drill was in a large slide-out drawer in the bed, sitting on top of the Dremel, which they didn't take. My tool bag was stuffed under several boxes of different wire, pretty much out of sight. Those 2 things lead me to believe it was someone on my street, and I'm heavily suspecting a few of my neighbors. It's my boss's truck (company rig), so I don't know what he's going to do about it. Regardless, I'm just pissed. Mostly because I don't know how I'm going to replace it all.

Well, at least it wasn't like 4000 dollars worth of tools. I would be PISSED if someone took my tools from my work station at work. I would be down like 4000.

Dude, it might as well be $4000. I'd be just as fucked. I don't know what I'm going to do, I've felt naseaus all day.

Damn that sucks ... I know where you are coming from too. I had a 20 foot shipping container at a home remodel site and it was heavily locked up. Even being locked up like it was, did not stop someone from cutting the rear doors off with a torch and taking everything inside of value. The assholes cleaned me out of $8k+ worth of tools that weekend.

Can you go through your car insurance for the cost of the tools?

Josh do you have home owners insurance ? If so you should be able to claim the loss and get the funds to purchase new tools...

Thats shitty to hear. About a month ago some crooks hit up the Chevy/Benz/VW dealership down the road, and made out with about $300k in tools. Just totally wiped out all the techs Snap on and mac tools. Then about 2 weeks later when the techs insurance kicked in and replaced most of the tools..... they got stolen again. Talk about shitty. Though that seemed like an inside job since there was no forced entry, and they rolled trash cans full of tools away on creepers.

I have what could probably total about $10k of tools in my van... used to leave the doors unlocked until my neighbor stole my cell phone and change from tray... what an idiot.
