If you owned your home, your insurance would cover it for sure. But, you would likely have a deductible of at least $500. So it wouldn't even make sense to file a claim. It's already been said, but if your livelihood is your tools, don't leave them out for the taking.
Oh, and on another note, I think thieves are the scum of the earth.

I feel for you since it has happened to me too. Hopefully the truck that the tools were stolen from is owned by the company that you work for. If so then they should have theft insurance to cover your losses. Mine carried a $250 deductible but my losses exceeded $1700 and the companies tools were worth close to $1200. Can't say that it is worth it to file a claim if you only lost $600 worth of tools. I'll bet that you are underestimating your losses. I split the deductible with my boss. It is amazing how much simple hand tools cost. Hopefully you have a good friend at Platt or Eoff and you can go in and explain what happened and they will give you a good deal. At least an apprentice discount. I would also call the pawn shops in Redmond. The police told me that some thieves are smart enough not to try and sell their haul in the same town that they stole it from.what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

would insurance really cover replacing tools laying in the bed of a truck-- not secured? if so, that is great, but I really doubt they would.
once agian, so sorry. I am always so worried that one day I go out to my barn- 20 miles from my house, and my M3 and all my stuff being missing. I think i would go CRAZY! hope it all works out alright for you. I also understand it isnt the 600 dollars in tools, its the principal of what happened.

Originally posted by Mr. Anderson View PostThat's the shitty part, and where it's probably my fault. The truck has a canopy on it that doesn't lock, but my drill was in a large slide-out drawer in the bed, sitting on top of the Dremel, which they didn't take. My tool bag was stuffed under several boxes of different wire, pretty much out of sight. Those 2 things lead me to believe it was someone on my street, and I'm heavily suspecting a few of my neighbors. It's my boss's truck (company rig), so I don't know what he's going to do about it. Regardless, I'm just pissed. Mostly because I don't know how I'm going to replace it all.Yours truly,

Sucks. 2 weeks ago I had my stereo and my bag stolen out of my e30, in front of my house. Had some of my nicest clothes for an interview I had planned on going to, broke the fucking window and window frame, where they tried to pry it, and broke part of the console where they pried the radio out. They also took both of my work shirts which were in the bag. They left the ipod and ipod adapter in the glove box... It really wouldn't have pissed me off so bad if they would have stolen without breaking a whole bunch of shit. If you're going to pry a fucking door, at least do it where the door meets the car, not where the window meets the door. It was raining too, that made it SO much better, water all over the passenger side M seat. Check the pawns like other people said, I found mine, and the person who did it because the pawn owner was gullible.

Something about coverage for my personal property while in transit. Check it out...
Sorry that happened Josh. I'd think your boss has full coverage and most if not all of your tools will be covered.
I was a goalie too and had all my gear (about 2k worth in 1978 ) stolen from my storage at the rink. The rink's insurance covered it and I got better stuff at their discount. Worked out fine. I hope this does for you too Josh.Last edited by parkerbink; 01-20-2008, 12:44 PM.

Well, I went out and bought about $60 of new bare necessities yesterday, and I just (ouch) posted my snowboard on Craigslist. If there's one thing I definitely can't afford much more of this year, it's $55 lift tickets. I was going to get a new board next year, anyway. I should be able to replace some more of the more specialized things at Platt, I can just buy them on our shop's account, and my boss can charge me for it.
Another shitty thing I just realized, my datebook with all of my itemized hours and parts lists were in my bag.
