here is the crux of this issue. in the midst of debate people have forgot what was asked. i forgot what was asked. but thats besides the point; it really depends who is asking. can we come to a mutual agreement?
if the treadmill is to match the ground takeoff speed required, the plane will take off as demonstrated on tv. however,
if the treadmill is to match the wheel speed, there will be no ground speed, air speed, or flying.

sweet mother of pete, you're a retard. wheels on an aircraft have nothing to do with its flight characteristics. A wheel's only purpose for existing on an airplane is to support the aircraft until it goes fast enough be supported by the wing, and to minimize friction between the aircraft and the ground until the aircraft leaves the ground.
THE ONLY EFFECT A TREADMILL WILL HAVE ON TAKEOFF ROLL IS BY INCREASING OR DECREASING THE AMOUNT OF ROLLING FRICTION THE PROPULSION SYSTEM MUST OVERCOME TO ACHIEVE V_lo (liftoff velocity).

Thats what threw me off. I thought the debate was will it take off staying in place or not. Anyone knows it would run down the conveyor built like normal, assuming the wheels spun freely and as fast as the conveyor belt. I thought idiots here were saying it would stay in place AND take off lol.Leave a comment:

does anyone here understand the physics behind a planes flight? Look it up on google and u will realise that until the plane is actually travelling a pretty fast speed the effect doesnt create enough lift for it to fly. So when its sitting still on a treadmill how fast is the air passing over the wings??Leave a comment:

It didnt take off in place, it went the same distance before it took off as it did with out the "treadmill". Google how a plane propeller works...does anyone here understand the physics behind a planes flight? You dont get it, the wheel speed has no bearing on air speed. lets try this.
Why do you think air craft carries of old alway turned into the wind to launch air craft. the wind is say 20knots the carrier is running 15 knots thats 35 knots of air speed over the wings an none on th wheels. If the plane need 85 knots of air speed over the wings to take off the wheels will only have 50 knots of ground speed at lift off see 20+15+50=85.Leave a comment:
