So? Put a car in the same scenario. Start driving until say, an indicated 60mph. Your ground speed would be 30mph and the treadmill speed would be 30mph. (remembering the treadmill is spinning as fast as your car is going. if your car has a ground speed of zero, the treadmill is also not moving. You are in gear and hit the gas, SOMETHING has to move.)

seriously though, the planes wheels were moving faster than the tarp

its obvious they used after effects impose a tarp beneath the plane

I know. I am just saying I expected it to be plausible, not busted.

It was busted that a plane wouldn't take off of a conveyor belt. There is no way it wouldn't take off.

I was however surprised that they claimed it "BUSTED". With stuff like this they usually just call it plausible, which is what I was expecting for this one.

Wouldn't that kinda ruin the sparkle/glitz that 3+ years of buildup to have it fizzle out in front of you. It just could have been so much more.

Don't get me wrong, they got the point across. I just feel cheated.
Lol isnt that what really does happen? The anticipation of ramming through the cheerleader like shes gonna be some screaming twin of Jenna Jameson. When really shes just a stiff hot girl laying there taking it? :hitler:

but yet people still cant grasp the concept...LOL.

They proved the point....regardless of how unspectacular it was. I mean all these people who wanted the non believers to shut up...get that and now are complaining as how they got it..LOL

People will never be satisfied. Which happens with almost every myth they do

It doesn't matter how big or fast the "treadmill" is moving, the planes wheels are free spinning and aren't what drive the plane. The planes engine + propeller pull it through the air, the treadmill could be going twice as fast and the plane would still take off in the same distance..

Even though it was a big tarp and not an actual treadmill, the physics are exactly the same. It wouldn't matter one way or the other. Just look at the scale model plane experiment earlier in the episode.

If you were proved wrong by last night's episode, just admit it and move on, rather than trying to make up a bunch of BS excuses why they didn't do it 'good enough' or something like that.

It was not enough for me eithr. I mean come on, pull a long ass tarp for a while from the back of a truck with a plane preped to daxi on it headed the oppisite direction. You gotta admit, could you imagine the 787 sized treadmill they'd had to have built to "really" get it. I say they did more then anyone behind a monitor and keyboard had to this point.
