Those rules regulate boxing, kickboxing and “mixed boxing,” which is described as a combination of boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Along with the prohibition of elbow and knee strikes both standing and grounded, the regulations also state that a referee will utilize a standing count to check on a fighter that has been knocked down.Comment

Really? My friend and I thought that at first, but after several slow-motion replays I think they made the right call stopping it then. Take a look at his face and hands after he hits the deck? He's out man... his outstretched arms weren't coherently defending him. If the official didn't stop it, he would have taken a HARD hit to the dome.

no, I should have elaborated... I agree with you and your friend but for the purpose of doubt, confusion, and/or dispute, he should have been right there but let it go a few more seconds.
Now, I've seen guys get KTFO and try to actually pull guard on the ref or whatever but Koscheck seemed to have quickly gotten into a defensive position as if he were semi ready for what was coming. I think it was an early stoppage simply because it left doubt. The ref could have just as easily stopped it had Paulo landed another blow. But, what would people have been saying then, ya know? lol
Regardless, Brasil wins by TKO'ing jackass Koscheck. Win-WinComment
