Measures that actually keep us safe are fine. I have no problem with a process that used to take 25 minutes taking 1:30.

I am ok with ceding some of my time. What I have a problem with is having idiots that have an attitude doing the job giving me an attitude.

When I flew from Phoenix to Mexico City on 12/21, I had just gone through the security process the week before and had been chastised for not using a separate plastic bin for my carry on bag, laptop, shoes etc so I got three bins and had my things in separate bins.

With an attitude like she had just told me not to do this I was literally yelled at by an ugly, surly enormous girl.

Obviously they are using different practices at different gates on different days. That's ok too just be polite and professional about it.

It's about not being presumed guilty and having to prove your innocence. I think that's one of the fundamentals of this country, innocent until proven guilty.
I instinctively agree with this mentality.

Especially since I have a couple guns, I perk up everytime one of these comes along. While it doesn't seem like much to most of us this time, where will we draw the line?

What will it take for the American people to stand up & demand smaller government?

      -Controlled gender births?
-A financial trading ability implanted so "illegal aliens" can't buy goods?
      -GPS tracker implants at birth?

I intentionally used a few outlandish examples, but the previous question stands.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

It's too bad I don't remember the days when you just got on a plane just like that...I flew once when I was 5, then the next time I flew I was probably 14-15. That was the last time before 9-11.

you are exactly right, but with every "class" of new people and diminishing lack of standards, it is going to get worse. they will hire just about anyone right now. The idea for the TSA was good but they really lack the knowledge to implement it. Now all we have are a bunch of idiots or from what was posted earlier "retards" working and running things. I see the self collapse of the organization coming soon. (If it helps you any I have been there since day one and have never had a passenger file a complaint, I always treat people as I would want to be treated in a professional manner. when I see screeners talking on the cell phones and yelling at people it just makes me sick)

Our safety is a credit to the men and women in the armed forces who put the lives on the line everyday.
Sorry dude, but you're totally wrong on this one.

The armed forces have nothing to do with domestic security. Please tell me, what could the army have done on 9/11? Absolutely nothing. Only TSA could have done something, and they will continue to be the final line of defense against any kind of airplane hijacking. Does that mean they TSA is perfect? No, of course not. Do they suffer from the same problems that all large gov't agencies do? Yes.

The military may be able to bomb would-be terrorists in other countries, but they can't to shit here at home. They don't do anything to prevent terrorists from entering the country, buying weapons, making bombs, hijacking planes, etc.. So yes, the TSA does do a lot to keep us safe.

i have worked with EL Al Security Officials, i know exactly what they do. They Profile, If you have an Islamic name you are automatically questioned, They will ask you if you speak Hebrew and if you say yes than they ask you questions in Hebrew. You are questioned about why you are flying, your occupation, your family and more. Our country would never tolerate any of this because it is to much of an inconvenience (which is why 911 was able to happened in the first place) Your comment about our troops keeping us safe would be true if they were really able to hunt down terrorist, but they are still in Iraq instead of Afghanistan. And before you ask I do have family members fighting in Iraq. Simply calling someone a retard with out knowing them or the facts is quite immature.
              otay, I'll bite.

So you know what El Al does, great - then you should be completely aware of how rediculously bad our policies are in direct comparison.

I have friends in Iraq, and friends whose spouses, etc. are in the British Special Forces, etc. so don't act like you're the only person who gets insider information.

The TSA is just a minor obstacle that makes people feel like government is doing something. Should they go away? No, but the people who work at the TSA really don't seem to know wtf is going on, or give a proverbial shit about their job. Of course, then you have the hardass who wants to question grandma (which I have no problem with).

The system simply isn't as good as it could be, and it won't be because American's can't tollerate slow downs, databases with their personal information, profiling, etc.

Yeah I posted that when I was hammered last night... so I'll adjust my statement to be more coherent.

The TSA is pretty ineffective - but they make you feel safer. They can catch the "big" stuff, but that's really pretty easy to accomplish. Take a peek at the TSA employees next time you go through security - half of them have no effing idea what they're doing nor do they give a rats ass about what's happening. It's a government job done by people who would otherwise being doing some other remedial task; that's it.

It's like anything else - you don't solve the problem by trying to head people off at the gate, you solve it by not letting people in at-risk groups buy airline tickets. You profile different groups, you do criminal background checks, you check country of origin, etc. Does this sound all terrible? Probably, I'm not even totally comfortable with it; but it's the best solution to the problem until people decide to stop blowing up planes, trains, and automobiles.

Everything you just said is completely true. I've never encountered anyone being rude to a traveler, but I've seen a lot of people who simply go through the motions of whatever their specifid job is and really not actually pay any attention what-so-ever to the task at hand.

What does that have to do with airline security for our nation? I have the information because i get it first hand.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match, but you brought that up first chief; discussing how you get first hand information regarding the "hunting down" of teh terrorista's.

I don't want to argue with you, you got butthurt because I called the people who work for the TSA retarded. Maybe retarded is a little stiff, but I've seen some pretty dim-bulbs check my baggage - those people in question don't inspire a great deal of confidence with regards to the detailed level of the job they are doing.

I'm going to stop addressing your posts before Josh gets pisssed and locks the thread.
