I just saw on the news there's a town in Missouri that recently witched over to full wind power. If there's no wind they buy from traditional forms, but so far they've ended up selling surplus energy to surrounding towns. saw it on the Communist News Network, so no linkey.Leave a comment:

Holy crap, you mean Texas acutally did something right? Wow, it's a strange new world ;)Props Texas!
In what experts say is the biggest investment in the clean and renewable energy in U.S. history, utility officials in the Lone Star State gave preliminary approval Thursday to a $4.9 billion plan to build new transmission lines to carry wind-generated electricity from gusty West Texas to urban areas like Dallas.
"People think about oil wells and football in Texas, but in 10 years they'll look back and say this was a brilliant thing to do," said Patrick Woodson, vice president of E.On Climate & Renewables North America, which has about 1,200 megawatts of wind projects already in use or on the drawing board in Texas.
Texas is already the national leader in wind power, generating about 5,000 megawatts. But wind-energy advocates say the lack of transmission lines has kept a lot of that power from being put to use and has hindered the building of more turbines.Leave a comment:

Half a generation ago during the 70's, guess what the climate topic of the day was?
Global Cooling.
(gasp)
The current hysteria over global climate is heavily skewed by the only recent availability of technology that has provided the data todays assertions are being based upon. We have uncommonly high resolution now that did not exist even ten years ago, but we are being led to believe this data represents a much larger lice of history. The fact is, we don't have enough data collected over time to make most if not all of the scary predictions out there. Ice caps melting. Polar bears dying. El Niño. La Niña.
The responsible thing to do is to continue collecting data and making cautious recommendations like composting, recycling, cleaner energy sources, etc. The scare tactics selling Priuses is good only for Toyota. For all we know, the planet rides on a frequency we don't live long enough to experience the highs and lows of.Leave a comment:

Global warming??
Who the hell knows what it is.
Take a moment to review a pictorial graph of the last million years of sea rise and fall, and you'll see that we leave off just at the start of a rise. Keep in mind...there have been tons of millions of small sea level oscillations over the eons in addition to the major ones, and its indecisive as to if we are on the fall of a mini-crest or on the rise for a large rise in sea level. Its simply a natural occurence and if we do in fact accelerate it its only bringing about the inevitable anyway. What will happen will happen....and I highly doubt your going to stop or turn geological force around in anyway.
As in...basically..half of California, could theoretically be nuked and (nudged) out to sea as it is going to eventually go out to sea anyway. There is a HUGE subduction zone right at that area.Leave a comment:

cigarette smoke contributes to global warming... Yet another reason to quit smoking.
some argue that the white smoke can actually have the adverse affect, reflecting the suns rays back out of the atmosphere...
O'Rly... some of this shit is ridiculous!Leave a comment:

It all comes down to what is practical.
As an example, cloth diapers are nice. But who really wants to carry around a bag full human waste all day while shopping or on a family outing? You have bacteria, germs, and other things that put the health of the parent and the people within the vicinity of the diaper bag at risk. And let's not mention what an "all natural" diaper probably smells like after it has been used. Amusement parks probably generate as many plastic diapers in a day as there are people in the park. Maybe it's not that great for the landfill but I'd rather not stand in line behind some parent carrying around the entrails from their bundle of joy. Even in the fast food industry I wouldn't want to get a Whopper, onion rings, and a slice of pie on a plate with foil wrapped over the top of it and my drink in a Tupperware cup.
And what about the households where both parents are working? Do they really have time to wash out every bottle, can, and cardboard food container? Do they live in a house or apartment big enough to store the extra trash between pickups?Leave a comment:

I have never worked in the fast food industry but what do they do to recycle? Seems to me like they are pretty wastefull. I went to Taco Bell the other day for lunch and I got the "Big Box Meal". Basically they give you your food, in a box, on a tray. I take all my food out of my box, set in on my tray, and set the box aside. By the time I am done with my meal I go to throw everything away and have this perfectly good box that has been touched by nothing but the human hand.
Anyhow, fast food restaurants should have recycle bins next to the garbage cans and a troff like a urinal. When your done with your drink poor out the waste in the troff and recycle the cup, lid, and straw. Then recycle what ever esle is able to be recycled like a box from a Big Box Meal that what untouched and merely there for a sales pitch.Leave a comment:

Can you read? I said I didn't believe in global warming.Yes Propaganda is all that has come out of AL's mouth as well as many other documentaries on the subject. Its all non conclusive data, its all pure opinion based loosely on trend data with no regard for other more likely causes.
I will say it one more time and see if it gets through you fucking skull. We need a better source of energy but not due to human induced climate change.
Did you ever stop to think that those other nations have bought what Al was sellin hook line and sinker as well??? Some day you will learn to think for your self and not take what your prof says for granted, or believe everything you see on the TV.
I do believe we should be doing more to be less wasteful. Like Subaru. Ain't nothing wrong like that unless you have a thick skull with nothing inbetween the ears.
I didn't know recycling was for suckers? I guess we should all throw out as much shit as we can just to piss people off. Done.Leave a comment:

propaganda? seeing other nations recycle, reuse better than the USA be propaganda? after Ted says we aren't worse than other nations
we make the MOST garbage per person of ANYONE in the fucking world.
are you saying we shouldn't do anything and get others to do the same? no, then why is the concept hard for you and you against it. get your friends to behave responsibly. nothing wrong with that. unless you feel that is not fair for "freedom"
