Global Warming: What do you think? What do you know?

I'll admit, most of my reading into Global Warming has consisted of articles and some searching... I don't believe in Global Warming but, more so; I don't believe in the crude manner in which it was established or the billions of dollards spent on it. I wish someone/a group would blow this shit wide open once and for all. It's already pass gotten way out of hand...

I'm sure there are some of you who may have done some research and/or simply know more than I do. If so, please share your insight and references.

    Climate Scientist Roy Spencer argues:

"We live in an invisible atmospheric sea of water vapor, Earth's primary greenhouse gas. Our atmosphere could hold much more water vapor than it does, which would then lead to a much warmer Earth -- but it doesn't. So, why is the greenhouse effect limited to its current value? We don't know; scientists simply "assume" that it magically stays that way.

Current computerized climate models that predict large amounts of global warming only do so after making very crude and uncertain assumptions about how the Earth's natural greenhouse effect is maintained. In the following article I will explain why I believe that modern science can not say with any level of confidence how much of our current global warmth is caused by mankind without knowing why the Earth's greenhouse effect is limited to its current value.

In the following article I will explain why the answer to this question must be through the operation of precipitation systems, for only they can remove water vapor from the atmosphere. Even though all climate models DO contain the "average effects" of precipitation systems -- this is NOT the same as knowing how precipitation systems interactively regulate the climate system.

Al Gore likes to say that mankind puts 70 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every day. What he probably doesn't know is that mother nature puts 24,000 times that amount of our main greenhouse gas -- water vapor -- into the atmosphere every day, and removes about the same amount every day. While this does not 'prove' that global warming is not manmade, it shows that weather systems have by far the greatest control over the Earth's greenhouse effect, which is dominated by water vapor and clouds."

A brief explanation of global warming theory, why so many scientists are worried about it, and why UAH climate scientist Roy W. Spencer is not that worried

I think it does exist. The earth does go through climate shifts, hot-->cold-->hot etc. There were Ice Ages you know. Maybe we are just in an upswing.

Is it our fault, hell no. How could we, in 150 years as an "industrialized" earth, had enough effect on the climate to completely alter it. In geologic time 150 years is barely a blip.

It may or may not be because of us, but it won't matter when the Yellowstone Supervolcano, now overdue to erupt by about 40,000 years blows.

No question, I mean in the strict context of the human aspect. People pushing it and its agenda etc..

            It's 2 parts cyclical 1 part man-made.

The strictly human, force fed "your destroying the earth" bullshit, is bullshit.

what about all the scientists in the seventies that thought we were headed toward another ice age? Its the same shit, people justifying their jobs and securing grants/budgets by blowing selected information out of proportion. Al Gore is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

The Weather Channel founder was talking about suing his ass for fraud. I wish he was serious about it....

"Does carbon dioxide cause a warming of the atmosphere? The proponents of global warming pin their whole piece on that," he said.

The compound carbon dioxide makes up only 38 out of every 100,000 particles in the atmosphere, he said.

"That's about twice as what there were in the atmosphere in the time we started burning fossil fuels, so it's gone up, but it's still a tiny compound,"

Good answer. I believe humans contribute to global warming but by no means are we 100% responsible. The Earth goes through warm and cold cycles like you said and it should also be noted that nature itself produces far more greenhouse gases then we do. These are two things that Al Gore never told the hippies.

With that being said, I believe humanity does have the responsibility to conserve the environment. With the way we are going, there will be no forests left, all the fish will be gone, and the ice caps will be completely melted.

Just a little story that is somewhat related. I recently heard about seals feeding on salmon near a dam on the Columbia River. Apparently, there are plans to kill the seals because they are interfering with "salmon restoration". What really gets me is how ignorant people can be. There wouldn't be a salmon shortage in the first place if it wasn't for 1) over fishing and 2) low oxygen levels in the water caused by fertilizer pollutants. Also, the salmon wouldn't be there, and thus the seals wouldn't be either, if the fucking dam wasn't blocking them from getting up the river. Jesus Christ people. All anybody can come up with is a quick fix for everything when we should be looking at the very root of the problem

How does all the weed smoked by those people who believe in global warming contribute to greenhouse gases?

I don't know but they may want to set the bong down as at one point even manure was brought up as a factor..

"the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero). "
"One might argue the 28-year-long period of warming which occurred between 1970 and 1998 constitutes a dangerous (and man-made) warming.

"A period of similar warming occurred between 1918 and 1940, well prior to the greatest phase of world industrialisation, and that cooling occurred between 1940 and 1965, at precisely the time that human emissions were increasing at their greatest rate."

I'm not arguing change, or saving trees, turning salt water in the potable water etc. Just the agenda and political side of global warming.

We don't know if Global warming is really good or really bad. There are theories and projections but, since we can't accurately predict the weather more than a week in advance those theories are basically worthless from a scientific perspective.

I think we should keep striving to keep our environment clean - but in NO WAY do I think we are going to create a worldwide flood if ice caps melt. It's just a way for Al Gore (WTF?! WHAT DID HE DO FOR PEACE ANYWAY?!!?) and other people that are smart enough to make money and capitalize off of stupid people.
