I was just in Scottsdale this March. I loved it out there. Very clean and people are fairly nice. I stayed in Tempe. I just have it pretty good here in Miami. I would consider if I did not have so much going on here!

      you're a bartender right?
it is going to start to get really ugly for the people in the high end service industry (stupidly expensive trendy bars in Scottsdale).
the "30k millionaires" that have been living in debt up to their eyeballs to keep up appearances are in a world of hurt!
unfortunately there lack of saving prowess is what made it lucrative to work at a club in Scottsdale.
i have talked to a few friends and between the new DUI laws and the "slowdown" there are off by 20% or more

I thought auto was a no-no? On a sidenote, I purchased my first gun a few months ago, P226. Love it. Next up, Rock River AR.

Noob question: I need new mags. These dont have to be transferred through a FFL correct?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

full auto = insane money and the willingness to pay the federal taxes on "said" weapon and fill out the correct paperwork along with the waiting period for the federal government to review and approve you. Not sure if all states have class 3 availability or not though. Texas should. Vedubin will know more on class 3 regulations.

Mags do not need to transferred through a FFL. You can buy them direct through the internet straight to your door.

P226 is one fine weapon. I have a P226 equinox with both .40 & .357sig barrels and love shooting it. Also just picked up a P220 nickel (with made in West Germany stampings which have not been made that way since 1989)

I do many things, I got some high bills that Im working on. So I am a bartender and own Elite Bartending School. I am also a broker and ex pilot. So Im a bit older than most, sometimes I just dont act my age. :)

As for Full auto, select fire, suppressors, and destructive devices, are legal to own. Its harder to own and much more expensive but if your a legal, law abiding citizen of the United States then yes, in most states those items could be owned by people like you and me.

I have been lucky to have met some friends that are gun manufactures and gun dealers, along with a lot of rich customers. They are a fun bunch of people and most are very well off. Just as an example: To own a Full Auto M16 can be had with proper paperwork, $200 tax stamp, transfer fees, and price of gun would total around $12 to $15k usd. Not to many can afford those toys. Plus the amount to feed it. Think 1 30 round magazine for a M16 cost $15 for Q3131A ammo, if not more. Standard ammo 55g. You will blow though that 30 round mag in less than 10 seconds. So for a few minutes of shooting can be quite costly.

How did I miss this new "gun" thread?

Anyhow here's my $0.02. I've shot the M17s and they're OK but there are others out there that are comparable if not better. If you are a lefty then you're better off with a Stag lefty or get one of those deflector thingies for a standard AR.

If you want to hunt varmints and not completely blow off their pelts then you can also build a tack driving AR. But if you want more bang for the buck then get a .17 HMR. There are plenty of brands that offer these and they are very capable. You could probably even get away with a .17M2 and those are even more reasonably priced.

As far as the MicroTech goes that is a thing of beauty. I've shot the old Steyr AUGs many many moons ago and all I can say is that the Microtech is its refined version. I'd still buy the AUG but I'd rather pick up the Microtech.

BTW, AZ is a gun mecca, especially Chandler. Many manufacturers and custom shops in that area. Oh and do listen to Vedubin01, he knows his s**t .

Thanks for the quick response and not jumping all over my nubness. Yes, I live in TX but I was not brought up with guns so its been a learning process.

I made sure to get a West German SIG as well.

I would not go around TX saying that! JK! But there seems to be a few here that seem most knowledgeable on this subject. Most are personal preferences like the OP of this thread. But ask away, got to start somewhere.

i'll have to see if shooters world (Bo0ooo they suck, but you can rent guns and shoot them there) has a Microtech and bring the bushmaster and try them back to back for comparison.
does the Microtech still use a std AR mag?

no they have their own mags that work with that.
