I think that happened right about the same time as those firefighters smashed the windows on that E30 so they could hook their hose up to the fire hydrant, and the guy who got his picture taken on top of WTC with a jet over his shoulder.

I think we should harness methane, I know after the #2 Lunch special I just ate I'll be able to power my car for at least 200 miles if I could save up all that gas.

Oh, and to the guy who says "hydrogen is our future"..................

    Oh, the humanity indeed.......

this country needs to invest money in newer, sustainable energy sources instead of throwing our money away in wars we cant win and energy sources that will be obsolete in 50-100 years. if we want america to maintain its prowess amongst the world powers then we need to stay ahead in the research and development of new technologies. hydrogen is the most logical choice but americans are too ignorant to realize it and the investors are to greedy to support it.

Agreed, to an extent. Every $ we put in to funding more oil drilling is a $ we dont put in to finding some kind of sustainable energy source. Oil will continue to become more scarce and more expensive. It's a fact. So maybe we should try and find something better? Anyone who says that oil will continue to be plentiful is full of shit, and has their head so far up their ass it's putting pressure on their brain and making them retarded.

It's like we're standing in a tunnel, and at the other end is a giant train coming towards us. Many of us want to try and find a way out of the tunnel to avoid the impending situation. Others seem to be content to sit there and argue whether the train is actually moving, even though it's speeding towards us with lights on and whistle blowing.

                hmm... OK.

CARS ARE NOT THE TOTAL PROBLEM - but only one portion of the issue.

How about NUCLEAR POWER, wind farms, wave farms, hydro power, solar power, tidal power, ethanol, natural gas, etc.

if we did all of that and THEN got after the oil industry, I'd be game to go head hunting; but we are so far from that it's not even funny. I guarantee that if we did everything that I just proposed, gas prices for even gi-normous SUV's would be completely reasonable. BUT, instead, our government has no solution - don't you just love the people who are supposed to be "representing us"? this goes for both sides of the political spectrum.

do your homework on proven oil supplies

there is no impending shortage, just bottlenecks in gas production, especially in the usa with the left's mandates of 15+ types of gas
there are proven reserves for the next 100+ years, if not more. anwar estimates are 10+billion barrels using exploration tech from the 70's

there is enough natural gas off the cost a california to meet usa demand for 200 yrs

there are more btu's in the coal in wyoming than all the oil in saudi arabia

i know that cars arent the only problem and that there is no one solution. it would be nearly impossible to power an industrial plant with hydrogen fuel cells and even more impossible to power a car with with wind power. all i am saying is that i think that money should go into researching alternative fuels that wont run out in 100 years. it might just be me but it makes more sense to invest in something that could last several hundreds of years than to invest in technology that will be useless within the next centry

but oil won't be useless in 100 years... arg.

Look.. I don't disagree with you regarding the need to find alternate sources of energy. My issue becomes that I have proposed like 6 different alternatives to oil to power EVERYTHING BUT CARS, and year people say "nono, we won't have that". WTF is that all about?! You don't want oil, I give you solutions, and you still say no? THAT doesn't make a dicks worth of sense - particularly when I propose those things to help imporve the planet/economy/etc. and it's just simply pushed aside?

If peopel got educated and thought about what I'm saying - we wouldn't have a problem with oil any longer; people would be pressuring our GOV to do all of the alterntive things that I have suggested... but instead what do you get? the same energy problems...

So who benefits? Not the average american.... and certainly not the lower class american... and ultimately not the wealthy american, either.

maybe i miss understood you or you misunderstood me idk? but i was agreeing with your proposals i just think that (and this is completely just an opinion) the sooner we focus on alternative fuels the sooner we can become less dependent on oil and i think that the automobile industry is a good place to start.
