I've signed it, but I know that it won't make a hill-of-beans difference with our current energy situation in this country. One petition won't do much, but if this sort of effort can serve as the beginning to get more support and initiate a true movement in peoples' mindset and actually get a energy policy enacted that's more focused on 20 years down the road instead of the next two or three fiscal quarters, then all the better.
I support the drilling for oil in ANWAR but I also realize this isn't our 'get out of jail free' card either. There's only so much petroleum to go around in there - perhaps enough to stave off some of the market forces we are experiencing now, but it is by no means a long-term solution. More drilling offshore should be allowed as well as in known source areas such as Colorado and North Dakota (latter just saw voters actually approve of this). At some point there will have to be a dynamic shift in how we generate energy for our needs, but we will never fully eliminate the need for petroleum sourced products from our lives.....a lot more than just fuel is derived from it. I do believe that some proven sources of energy aside from gasoline is necessary to become more independent from foreign sources as well as being greener in the process.

ya, like a bunch of internet peoplez signing a petition is going to make a difference. Not to mention it's going to take 10-15 years to get any oil out of ANWR even if we start drilling tomorrow.
Nice idea, and I acknowledge that we need more sources for oil (even if it means drilling in ANWR), but this petition just isn't going to be helpful

if the usa got serious and started drilling, oil would come down in price immediately.
proven reserves and potential oil shale reserves in the western states, which are now economically viable, are enough to satisfy our own oil consumption for 200 yrs.
the only way to get noticed in washington dc is thru things like this petition. if the bastards finally figure out there's political fallout from not listening, they may start to pay attention.
and enough of the fucking argument it won't make any difference for 10yrs. the damn greens and left have used that position for the last 25yrs. it's bullshit.

There's too much money in other countries oil to worry about ours right now.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
