And slaves should be greatfull to be fed and have a roof. Look who benefits the most from any situation. And you'll see what can be improved.

Radios use songs only to cash on advertizing revenues. If there was no music, there would be no radio. So who's really helping whom?

How would people hear about new music that comes out? It's a two way street.

If the RIAA stopped letting songs play on the radio, independent artists would play

And talk radio does just fine on its own.

Back in the days, during the transition between vinyl to CD, record companys stole consummers by charging $20 for a CD, while vinyl was $6 or $7. They claimed that this technology was very expensive. Yeah sure. Customers now know pretty well they were ripped off. With the decline of "physical" music supports, record industries loose their revenues. Who cares about them anyway? Do you think that artists make money by selling records? No. They make their dough by touring and giving shows, and that's money that the record industry won't touch. I have no pity for the big companys after having been swindled by the high cost of CDs.

Do artists need record companies to record? Nop. Home studios are cheaper and as good nowadays. You can easily see that the big companies have lost all their grip on artists and consumers.

In short, selling records only benefits record companies. But broadcasting royalties benefit artists.

                        I disagree with this.

Do you know why most people have never heard of all these great, obscure indie artists? Because there isn't a record company with huge distribution networks and lots of resources for promotion.

                          myspace?

Hey... that is even free for artists!

The internet will slowly kill record labels. Leaving all the money to be made by studios, producers, and companies that set up the touring logistics. Record labels are such a crock of shit middle man.
