Come swinging out of a tree on a rope wearing a Ninja outfit so they can not see who you are. And whip their ass...

Really set up a camera to catch the act. You are most likely dealing with some young teenage neighborhood baggypants and might not be the only house on the street with stuff being vandalized.

-burglar falls through skylight, falls onto kitchen knife, sues

Getting shot in the back is a little different. He probably could've beat the shit out of him and been ok, but shooting at his spinal cord is a little harsh.

Why not cal your local police department and ask them what to do? Maybe there have been other vandalism cases and they will be willing to help you catch them.

Well, I guess it does not count in the e-peen interwebz world, but, I did have a customer get sued due to someone cutting thru his front yard (Corner property) and slipped on his "chained" driveway while his sprinklers were on, fractured his ancle in three places, and got all his medical bills outta the Homeowners Ins, and 15k for pain and suffering/loss of wages. So, disregard it because there is no way I could bring solid proof for you net flok.

              Well, that i could understand.

Kind of like how here in WI, and other states i assume, if you don't provide an effort to clear your sidewalks after a snowstorm, and someone slips on ice or snow, you can be held liable.

Yeah, the guy shouldn't be cutting through his yard, but you still need to have a safe environment for those who aren't breaking the law, ie burglars.

Same thing with swimming pools. You need a fence or a guard rail or else if you have the neighbor's kid to fall in it, you are screwed.

Your customer's case is a grey area situation where it really could go either way.

Whatever you do, just remember: "Revenge is best when served up cold"

                ...Whatever the hell that means

My buddy had problems with people throwing fire crackers on his car late at night. He froze some paintballs and waited on the roof of his garage.

He ended up breaking some bones in a kids hand (paintball got a direct hit on one of his hands) and took out the rear window of a truck.

                  No more firecrackers

Buy me a six pack and I will stay up all night and wait with a camera. Each night is a six pack.

                      Taser would work well.

Ohio has the new castle law now too (thats what the paper called it). Someone enters your car or house w/o permission, you can use deadly force w/o questioning.

^^ that requires you getting close to a possibly dangerous person that carries a knife... = NO no.

i vote mask and paintball ideal. don't freeze the balls though that can get very ugly for both of you. regular paintball still hurt like a mofo specially if you light him up.. consider the possibility of retaliation.

think about this, the guy is literally armed in your house. you have the right to kill him.

If you set up some sort of booby trap, all you have to do is get rid of the evidence after the culprit gets hurt. It's very unlikely that he is going to call the police or take pictures of the scene right after it happens. I would even pretend like you had no clue that someone was vandalizing your pool. Acknowledging this would only prove that you had ill intentions.

Anything you do is pre-meditated. Think before you set a trap.
