Next phone will me an LG most def! :D
Both of my parents are using the VX8100, it has quite a lot of capabilities. Good phone.

Was your first phone the VX3300, it was quite a popular model they had a few years ago. It sounded like the one you were describing.

Every Verizon phone has that shitty Qualcom Brew OS on it, which is complete and udder crap.

If you want a basic phone, get a little Palm Treo or Centro, best of both worlds (affordable, and they don't have 90% of the features removed by Verizon)

Dont listen to James. He is biased.

You'll be fine if you stick with a Blackberry that is not a Pearl.
You'll be fine if you stick with a Windows Mobile phone. Verizon has what I think is the only flip phone with camera that runs WM available in the US? Lots to choose from. Not all Verizon phones run the Qualcomm OS.

I got the Blackberry 8830 World phone, company issue with an Otterbox case, this fcking thing is almost indestructible. I've thrown it many times and it still takes a like a champ

Reminds me of my Nextel Blackberry 7520 that thing was indestructible as well.

How am I biased? Because I don't believe in paying money for a phone that has had basic functionality removed?

I recommended the Treo/Centro because its a small basic phone that can do just about everything he would want. I can't recommend a Crackberry due to how much I despise RIM though...

NOPE, older than that. It was the LG VX4400 - after two years my battery started crappin out. But, never had ANY issues with it!

Yea, the 8100 was a great phone. My original battery went bad on me after a year, and I got a new one. My screen started seperating or something on the inside. But, functionality wise, the thing worked great and was like a mini-brick!

He's right - Verizon has been known to really destroy all the features these phones really have!

I like it better than the iPhone. The Blackberry Curve is a really good functional phone if needed, my friend uses one of those for work.

The new LG Dare looks cool but seems like a poor attempt to make an iPhone copy and make it seem like they didn't. It lost the flip open QWERTY keyboard the voyager had and only adds a bigger screen. Might be cool to some, but I would not like to use my touchpad as a QWERTY keyboard...they're would be typos everywhere.
You shouldn't assume without trying the phone out. It is absolutely great and not so freaking big like the Voyager. The touch screen works better as well. The keyboard has no problems with being full touch.

                    Thread I started about it.

I just got it and went to the store to try out all of the phones. It was by far the best one I could see. It also has a good music player as well (I use it as my "ipod").

I'm entirely not reading this whole thread, but I have Verizon and have had one of the first vCast phones, its that old, but it's got a lot of stuff it can do and has great reception. You can't get it from Verizon anymore, but you can order them new on eBay. Infact I just replaced my old one with a new one I just bought off eBay.

                            It's a Motorola e815.

I wouldnt say Microsoft is any better of a company, and you own a Windows Mobile phone.

                                :)

Not all crackberrys are created equal. I support all of them out. PM if you want details.
