Like a few others said, your homeowners should cover it. Who are you with?

BTW when I was still working theft claims, your claim would have received more scrutiny since you didn't lock your doors and no forced entry. I can't believe people don't lock their doors, I mean how fucking hard is that?

I live in a small college town where I don't even have to close or lock the front door at night, and I still lock everything up tight every day.

I get nervous leaving my car unlocked just to run back to my apartment quick. LOL

I can't believe people will break in to steal a $150 GPS unit - you can get them so damn cheap these days!!`

That is a bummer about having all your items cleaned out of your car, but if you leave it unlocked (even in a assumed safe neighborhood), you're still giving the thief that much more incentive to take advantage of the situation. And like others have already mentioned, I don't think you'll be able to claim much on insurance to recover some of your loses.

I live in a neighborhood which is considered safe but I know I'm not immune to such things as a vehicle break-in or stolen bicycle or lawn mower. My own policy with my car (since it is parked outside all the time) is to always lock it up -even if I'm going to be returning very shortly - and I leave absolutely nothing in plain sight. This habit of mine has resulted in never experiencing a vehicle break-in.

Best policy to remember: if the can see it, they can steal it.

when the economy starts to tank and gas prices are high the theft rates are certainly going to get worse. wonder how many of these will be sold ultimately for gas money. That and draining your gas tank...

I'm with Jon325i, I lock and pack everything up as a habit. Nothing's in plain sight. The one time the doors didn't lock they got me and pillaged everything from the trunk and consoles. That just goes to show that SOMEONE is ALWAYS LOOKING for unlocked cars etc. You assume that since nothings ever happened, why bother locking it?

The worst thing is leaving a box on the seat. Thieves always think the box is filled with gold bars or diamonds! That's when windows get broken etc.

Pembroke. I've never locked this car cause I don't really care, usually I leave the key sitting in the ignition. Never had a problem til like the ONE time I take the key out. Figures.

                                Serious?

Maybe it's because I live in a huge city and always have, but if I saw an open car sitting there with stuff inside I'd probably help myself too.
