Oh yeah?.. :p

One of my favorites. Still haven´t finished it yet though..
I was planning to buy one last christmas, but as the old 60-gig was droppedfrom production in fall, it was sold out everywhere. And I wasn´t going to settle for the 40-gig. I was planning to retire my ps2 since it started refusing to read some discs, so it didn´t happen.
But I heard a rumor that Sony is going to release an update in october that will let the ps3 play ps2 games. Can anyone confirm this?Comment

Oh Xenogears... god how I miss old school Squaresoft games.
FFVII - Still the greatest Squaresoft game ever made.

I will still bust this game out of the vault from time to time, and play for hours. I still have my original PS1 memory card with my save file from like 1998.Comment

I am pretty sure I own that game... err um yea...I used to be a gaming guy. Chronotrigger, Earthbound, Harvest Moon and many others on the SNES and a bunch on PS1. I started slowing down RPGs and video games in general when I started driving. I am done with them. I never play anymore. I have my xbox and ps2 sitting in storage along with the rest of my stuff for summer.
Edit: FFVII is bar none the best game ever.:: PNW Crew ::

Everything that i have read says that sony is through with backwards compatibility. If you are really wanting a PS3 that is backwards compatible with PS2 games, I would buy a new 80GB one now, before the updated one comes out in september, or buy a 60GB or 20GB on ebay. (you can always upgrade the hard drive w/o voiding the warranty, too).
Keep in mind, though, that PS1 games still work on all of these consoles, even the ones that don't support PS2 games (current 40GB, upcoming 80GB).
I have read a couple rumors that they may start making PS2 games available for download over the PSStore, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim, and it would probably be cheaper just to buy the game used on a disc.Comment

The only one for sale in europe is the 40GB one. I don´t know what SCEE was smoking when they decided against bringing in the 80GB..Everything that i have read says that sony is through with backwards compatibility. But I don´t think that Sony is giving up on the ps2 yet. They have just, or are going to, release a new version of it in asia. Don´t forget that they also were talking alot about the ps2 on E3 this week.
This is why I think that there will be an update to fix the BC-problem.
By the way, I also have Chrono Trigger (Boxed with FFIV, another holy grail. Best storyline ever in an RPG), and Chrono Cross. Truly magical games. I don´t think we will see games like these ever again.Comment

I asked my buddy who works at gamestop and is basically THE video game guru. He said changing out the HDD on the ps3 doesnt void any kind of warranty, they actually ENCOURAGE it, haha! There is a statement in the owner's manual apparently.
so swap away to your hearts content
