Having taken a class on Hitler's rise to power, the similarities between the wave of optimism that Hitler generated then rode into office is strikingly similar to the wave Obama's generated for himself. (both presidents superceded incumbents who were blamed for terrible economic situations on the tail end of unpopular wars with untrustworthy cabinet members around him, and were seen as beacons of change and reform in the midst of political stagnation.)
And it sure turned out well for Zee Germans, didn't it?
I don't think Obama's gonna start sending white kids to concentration camps, but even still... be careful what you wish for. Before you vote for him, look behind what he's saying. Different is not always better, and change isn't always positive.

Still no answer?
How will McCain shrink Dubya's enormous deficit while cuting taxes for the rich and starting yet another war?Leave a comment:

No, you're being the asshole because you are purposefully making moronic posts that ignore facts or information and attempt to show a complete lack of ability to comprehend economic principles.
you're a troll or got the short end of the genetic pool. go end yourself. I had fun discussing economics, but it's best to do with an intellectual equal, not someone who clearly failed econ in high school... and definitely did not chose to study advanced macro or international monetary economics in a post-secondary academic environment.Leave a comment:

Now you're just being an asshole, and you still haven't explained how McCain is going to shrink the deficit while cutting taxes for the the rich and starting yet another war.Leave a comment:

YOU ARE SO FUCKING STUPID!
Mandatory spending: not under his control, and primarily concern for budget issues
Discretionary spending: not that much higher compared to past decades, and following 9/11 some spending was necessary (domestic security, etc.)
Tax rate cuts have helped the economy and increase revenues.
Don't be mad there isn't some magic fucking wand like Obama promises to deal with the increasing costs to care for the nation's elderly, deal with the effects of globalization coming back to hurt us, and the GLOBAL economic hit in 2001.
Average deficit since 1970 has been 2.3% of GDP. 3% isn't that bad. And unless someone FUCKS it up i.e. Obama by raising taxes and creating even more programs to spend, we should hopefully see surpluses soon.Leave a comment:

Da planes, da planes created deficit. Bush did his best to get the country going again.
RECORD DEFICIT is just a number... without perspective it doesn't mean much. A $400B deficit today is much different than in 1960. It's like 3% of the GDP from what I just saw from the CBO. Do you throw all sense out the window when you sign up with the liberals?

Discretionary spending as % of GDP is on the decline long term, including defense. The 9/11 bump still isn't bad compared to any time before 1992.Leave a comment:

You're too stupid to see the real issue with government spending is not in control of anyone, besides those who would seek to eliminate the entitlement programs in existence.
Bush didn't establish social security, and what was the party of the person who did? Medicare? Medicaid? Food stamps?
Democrats are great at creating social programs that cannot be funded long-term. Do you really want Obama to start new programs?
Does "surplus to RECORD DEFICIT" mean anything to you, or are you too stupid to make the connection? Bush tanked a surplus and turned it into the largest deficit in HISTORY.
Republicans are great at starting unwinnable wars on multiple fronts.
Do you really want McCain to start new wars?Leave a comment:

You probably should look for a crooked Dem - now that yet another Republican has been indicted.Leave a comment:

See, that is not true. Current government has hired many contract companies, but it's not all president. Bush doesn't hire companies, congress does. Bush, after 9/11, did a lot to get rid of bureaucracy. He took immigration and defence departments, and put them together, eliminating almost 1000 officials, than Homeland Security was even further simplifying the equation. he did this with transportation, and many other departments. Bush is not the sharpest knife in the kitchen, and group surrounding him are shady, but not everything they did was bad.
One of the good things they have done, is that they have set a new low for presidency, and no matter who is elected for the next 100 years, it will all seem better.
Can't argue with the last line, but I'd like to see a source that cites the shhrinkage of government under Dubya.Leave a comment:
