I'm in the same boat. At my military school two kids killed themselves within the same year, one jumped out the 4th story window head first into the concrete and another hung himself overnight. There were no warnings, no audiences, no request for sympathy.

Then there's the third one, he tried to kill himself, he stood outside a 3rd story window and yelled and yelled until he got everyone's attention and told everyone he was going to kill himself. Then when someone finally broke into his room to try to stop him, he jumped, and he just broke both his legs.

I called 911 and beat the police there by a few minutes. As it turns out he's going to be okay. He had a liver US and all is well. He will be entering inpatient rehab and detox tomorrow when he leaves the ICU.

I know it's cowardly and I agree with all the points - what hurts me about this is he's the best kind of person. Hard working, caring, funny, ect ect. Can't say enough about the guy. However, alcohol plus anti depressants does this to him. Very low lows.

All the best to your buddy & yourself Patrick.

How would you describe the emotion getting that call, racing there and beholding his state?

Pure adrenaline. I hardly remember any of it.

Funny story: I went into the wrong house first. I went in the back yard looking for the hidden key. I couldnt find it so I tried the back door and it was open. I walk in only to find a shit load of hispanic kids staring at me.

Anti-depressants are probably the most over prescribed drug in the U.S. right now. I was on anti-depressants for a few months after being hospitalized and they seem to work at first but after a while you realize what a sham it is. There are much more effective ways to combat depression.

Turf, I dont know why I was thinking about this at the gym, but I was. I didnt mean to sound overly negative about the liver transplant. My feelings are the same, but I wasnt wishing he didnt get one. Im glad your friend looks like hes going to be ok, really.

No worries. I agree with you anyways. It's fair that people who want to live have a shot at it first. I actually talked to him about it last night - he agrees with me too.

                      I guess I had a similar situation.

My ex-girlfriend lived with her parents and they were never home so she was at my house a lot because she hated being alone. I dropped her off one night around midnight, no one was home but she insisted that I can leave her. Right when I pulled in my drive way after doing so she called me. I answered and she was in hystarics going on about how some guy tried to get in her house and was banging on the door, then went around into the back yard, she said that she was hiding in her bathroom and that I needed to come over. I told her to calm down and I'll be there quick and don't answer the door till I call. This is the night I found that my eta with just an exhaust, intake and agressive street tires can do almost 200km/h. I did a 20 minute drive in probably under 7 and drifted the E30 a couple times. I get there and call her, she comes to the door with a giant butchers knife in her hand and almost stabs me as she jumps me sobbing. I don't remember much of this because of adreneline. Turns out it was some dude walking his dog up the street and he tossed the ball and it ended up on her step so the dog went up and got it. I know this because I saw the guy, and he told me it was his dog.

Moral: Adreneline kicks ass and my ex-girlfriend is an utter and complete idiot.

Anti-depressants are over-prescribed by far, and the problem is you need to be eased off them, so it's not like you can just stop taking them.

When I worked at the hospital I worked in the psych ward quite a bit, and there were a good amount of people who attempted suicide, needless to say I talked a lot of people out of it.
But glad to hear your friend is alright.

I'll have to say. Sometimes, there is a bit of comfort hearing someones voice. Yes you are correct that bullets would be the best way and quickest way to go, but have you heard of James Vance? Took a shot gun to the face after listening to Judest Priest (spelling) and survived after his friend died.

Honestly, sometimes it's nice hearing someones voice though. If he took that many things, he wanted to go away, but just not bad enough and thinking logically enough.

Sorry to hear what happened to your friend, keep an eye on him and make him happy.

One song if you play it backwards apparently say for you to kill yourself or something like that. But he was also under the influence of alcohol and drugs. But yah, his friend did it, and killed himself, and he did it and survived. The guy ended up living for a bit longer and couldn't stand it anymore and committed suicide.

It's sad to hear about this...
