You can't take what he's saying at this point with too much validity, though. If he was really going to do it, he would have gone and bought bullets, and he wouldn't have called you to tell you what he'd just done. I know to him, he thinks he was 100% serious on doing it, but just from what you're saying, it doesn't sound like it.

Wow, sorry to hear that man. At least you got there in time, props for being a good friend in that sort of situation. Hopefully your friend will get the help he needs.

BTW, I hope I'm not coming off like I don't care about your situation. I had a friend in high school do a swan dive off a bridge into a gorge several hundred feet deep, I know how you feel. While my views on suicide generally aren't too well recieved, it still sucks when you lose someone. At least your friend is still around, and hopefully can get through it.

Nah, you're being real about it. I know he didnt wan't to die but when he told me all of that this monring it caught me off gaurd. It's also hard to gague because he was damn near successful. In fact, he's still not out of the woods. He may need a liver transplant.

Fuck, a new liver. Well, I guess that could put a new perspective on life. I wish a few friends would have ended up like that instead. I agree with what Josh said, I had three friends commit suicide in a three month period, framing two aunts dying of cancer within three weeks of diagnosis. Two of them stole their fathers guns, one an avid skeet shooter, the other, Captain of the Special Weapons And Tactics team. Needless to say, never saw them after leaving school for the day, then getting calls at early hours in the morning. I really hope for the best for your friend Patrick, and regardless of others spiritual beliefs, I'll be doing what I do on my side of the thoughts for your friend until and after he is thru this event.

Yep, my friend that I talked about earlier has lifelong problems now with his wrists, he went partially through a couple of tendons in both of them.

I've lost more then one friend via suicide. Not cool. Can't imagine the thought processes (or lack thereof) going on to make you want to do that.

I have strange views on suicide. I won't go in to them because I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm glad you did what you could as a friend to help him out.

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear that. At least you made it there, and could help. But did you call someone that may have been closer, or call 911 and tell them his location?

Regardless, I also have some views on suicide that many may not agree with. I think it is a cowardly act. And I also had an extremely bad experience with it while in high school. There was a kid that went to my school that was a friend of mine. One day he called a friend up and said that she should meet at his house to hang. She showed up, and he was acting very strange. He told her to hold on, went inside and returned with a .38. He looked at her, said, "I'm sorry" and put a bullet through his head right in front of her.

Both of those people were good friends of mine, and I felt so sorry for the girl. She was disturbed and depressed for a good time after that. It wierded the shit out of me too. And after that I was very angry at James.

Sorry to hear that about your friend, and Im glad hes ok.

But again with some negativity... he decided to do this to himself. If he needs a liver transplant, he should be put on the bottom of the list. There are people out there who didnt do shit to themselves to get in their position, needing a liver. His selfish act should put him right at the bottom of the list.
