way back i was into hiphop... then i fell away from the mainstream and got into metal and hard rock... then prodigy broke my mind, got into the hard synths like ...fuck i smoked too much back in those days, can't remember names haha.... then opened my mind to other electronic music, never liked the high pitched round sounds (or anything else about that asian dominated shit for that matter) and moved toward D&B, that brought me back through the UK channel with auctioneer status MC's ...only to be brought back around later in life with Aesop, Jedi, Non-Profit, Atmosphere, etc.. ....basically the Def Jux group.
...only to bore with their prattle as i did earlier with all the oldschool that turned too mainstream. I turned to what made it all worthwhile, the Instrumentals. The music man at the screen behind the spittin bitches grippin that mic eva so tight. that's the magic land where good tracks happens that makes other's careers pop or flop... a world beyond compare opened up with modern technology. Got some personal experience on some loopers: Acid, REASON. then tried my hand at creating original loops. it all cleared and the appeal made sense. I'm still waiting for a modernday Mozart to appear
Blockhead (kick'th forest crunk), RJD2, EL-P, Flatline, Necro, etc.... all are great white-noisers
go pick up RJD2's Magnificent City Instrumentals it's worth the listen.Last edited by LEANE30; 08-18-2008, 12:34 PM.

I am absolutely a West Coast G-rap fan. With its great beats and ethereal sound, compounded with relevant social commentary. Seeing as Im 27, early-mid 90's is already old school to me. I I never called it hip hop. We always called it rap, which I still do. "Hip Hop" was an East Coast term. But back then I was DEEP into the gangbangin and the latinos didnt really have beef with the blacks in L.A.
Kausion-What you wanna do?
DJ Quik(My personaly favorite rapper of all time)-Tonite
DJ Quik-Safe and Sound
DJ Quik-Dollaz & Cents
Ice Cube-This is How We Do it
Dre-Let Me Ride (First album I ever bought)
Xzibit-What You See Is What You Get
Warren G-This DJ (An E36 and E24 in this vid)
Warren G-Indo Smoke
Dove Shack-Summertime In The LBC (quintessential West Coast beat)
South Central Cartel-All Day Everyday
MC Eiht-Streiht Up Menace
Man I remember L.A. was FUCKED back then.

But I think it's great you know about atmosphere, blacalicious etc. I figured I was the only one around here that knew anything about them, and go figure a older (39 right?) guy is up on his shit.
