IMO, hip hop died when Tupac left the DU.

Thanks god for J5, Blackalicious and other intelligent, non-violent rap.

It didn't really die. It just went underground. If you look into it you'll find alot of good Hip Hop still. We only really see the money chasers that the industry shines light on. Back in the day, Hip Hop was all over. The shit we hear and see on radio and tv now is just commercials, it's fkng marketing. It ain't music...

        Mmm... Good conversations.

Hip hop is underground now yes. Where it fucking belongs. The masses were not made to consume hip hop.

Where it belongs? The masses were not made to consume hip hop? Are you kidding?

I won't even compare it to what people listen too today. Alot of the Hip Hop I listened to back in the day made me a smarter kid. A good amount of it was intelligent and insightful. As a kid growing up, I gained a bit of wisdom and smarts from it. At least enough to open my eyes and think about certain things.

Like I said, the masses dont want their minds to be opened. Look at the trend of the past 20 years in music evolution.

                  No worries!

The people that I meet that listen to similiar music either have the following traits:
                  1) Smoke trees
                  2) Are democrats
                  3) Culturally diverse
                  4) Musically diverse

People that listen to rap generally wont fall into as many of those categories, or people that listen to any other genre for that matter. Hip hop is a product of every genre of music. Thats what is so fucking cool about it.

Holy crap, theres other people who listen to Big L?

Damn me and my friends thought we were the only ones since seemingly no one we talk music with knows who he is.

One of the best IMO and he never got the recognition he should have. His death was more violent than biggie's and tupac's as well; shot in the face several times....

Anyways speaking of Big L; any Lord Finesse fans?

He he. What evolution? Nothing majorly new has come up since the mid-eighties. Usually old stuff, just repackaged.

In the sixties and seventies, something major came up every two or three years. Then by the very early 80's, recycling took over. Sad.
