    Correct.

The first group of people who came over here from Europe were very religious and church oriented and the purpose of their journey was to have the freedom to worship their way without restriction or reprimand from the government. When they started a government in the New World everything was based on their religious beliefs and much like most other countries in the world at that time, church and state were pretty much one in the same.

Then as others came over, they worked towards establishing some sort of middle ground so that there would be freedom and tolerance amongst the original settlers and those who came later who might not have believed or worshipped in the same way. Unfortunately many people died as a result of the conflicts generated by the difference of religious beliefs (or lack thereof) and the successing framers of our constitution felt that it was necessary to separate church and state so that nobody else would have to die or be treated unfairly as the result of not subscribing to the state's official religion of choice.

Dude, everything you see in the movies isn't real. I have testified multiple times, and never have I said the word God, nor was it mentioned by anyone.
I'll give you that.. but it varies according to where you are in the country.. like in many of the "bible belt" states, they are very serious about invoking the acknowlegement of God in their courtrooms.

My point is simply that while we may have the word god around on some money and shit, our forefathers made it very clear that we have the right not to say it if we don't want to, not to practice their; or any religion and to denounce it if we so choose.

            Back on topic:

I think that high schools should offer an advanced placement class called, "Noah's Ark II". This class would tell students about how Noah saved all of the animals on his boat, but would be more difficult than regular Noah's Ark.

In this class, the teacher would wear a fancy robe and have a fancy hat on. The teacher would explain that all of the students were being tested on how much they believed in this story. If they believe in the story they'd get to live forever in a magical land where problems don't exist. Here, everyone gets everything they want and everyone gets along. If they don't believe, they'd be punished after they die by being thrown in a pit where their skin would be burned off for eternity.

The point of the class would be that the most important thing in life is believing things that are unbelievable. Nothing else is as important. By believing these things, people will prove to God that they are better than the non-believers (who will burn in Hell for their stupidity).

It's not my fault. I had to go to church for the first 18 years of my life. Baptism, confession, communion, Sunday school (CCD) and confirmation.

Christin or catholic? Either way, that doesn't sound like the church that I go to or what I believe. There are many churches that are off. I don't want to judge the church that you were going to, but if that is the picture they painted for you. I am sorry.

I'm pretty sure confession is just a Catholic thing. I'm also pretty sure that if a church professes a belief in Christ, it's considered Christian. I'm also pretty sure that I'm talking about one of the main messages of the Bible.

The Bible doesn't say that Christians believe they are better than everyone else. There are "christians" out there that give off this message, but that is wrong. We believe that we are forgiven from our sins (something everyone is offered). We do not believe we are any better than anyone else.

Are you serious? If so, you clearly lack any understanding of the mechanisms of evolution.

Evolution is not always a lengthy process. Some time ago, rabbits were introduced into Australia as game. They were not indigenous, and had no predators, so they did what rabbits do and soon they doing major damage to the wool and veal markets by eating all the grazing stock. A virus that affects rabbits was introduced which killed a great many, but some were immune. The survivors passed on their resistant DNA, and now you have hardier "super rabbits". The rabbits now are different genetically from the originals. A new virus had to be introduced to further control the population. Link here.

                        Another example.

Oh, and I just LOVE this quote from an anti-evolution site:

In previous chapters, we saw that there are no mechanisms in nature to lead the living beings to evolve and that living species came into existence not as the result of an evolutionary process, but rather emerged all of a sudden in their present perfect structure. That is, they were created individually. Therefore, it is obvious that "human evolution", too, is a story that has never taken place. (Bold mine)

So perfect that many many species of animal have gone extinct? God is apparently careless. Or downright mean.
