I was sitting in my patrol car running radar when it happened. About a year later I left the police department and joined the Transportation Security Administration. I have been with the TSA since it's creation. Airport Security has not improved. In fact with our current turn over rate, it continues to get worse. Sadly to say someone could easily bring a bomb on board a plane.

Where we lived at the time we were in the landing path of a runway used for a lot of overnight DHL planes. The first couple of nights, loud noises that sounded anything like a plane woke me from my sleep.

I flew on the second day commercial flights were allowed back in the air. Weird. Planes were empty - the Houston airport was a relative ghost town when I arrived there that day. Except of course for the guys with dogs and M-16s.

by one day I didn't get stuck in NYC, went up on the 6th to celebrate Brasil's independence day, Sept 7th (Brazil Day in NYC) and my b-day, left on the morning of the 10th, woke up the next morning to get ready to go to work and FUCK!!!! Called and woke up my bro in Brooklyn, told him what was happening, he didn't believe me, turned on the tv, mumbled oh my God, said I have to go and hung up the phone... I remember it like it was yesterday.

It felt really strange to have left there just the day before and seeing it happen on tv. Insanley surreal.

Yeah, I remember my dad I think it was the 15th had to go to europe on a business trip. Been on tons before and tons since, but that one trip to sweden definitely stands out in my mind because of september 11th.
