I just heard the guy on the news say it's likely we'll see a gas price hike to a point the nation has never seen before, wtf, don't speculate like that because it happens either way when you say that.

My mom's side of the family all lives in Texas, not Galveston but close, further inland though, so no "certain death" for them. Houston, Victoria, and Austin

What the fuck are you doing in Port Lavaca? I lived there back in Nov. '05 to March '06. That place is so fucking boring. I was there rebuilding Formosa right after it blew up. Only good thing about that place is the burrito place right across the bridge when your heading north. It's right before Formosa on the left hand side.

We have been having serious wind blowing through here for the last day and a half. Last night I woke up around 4 to the sound of SERIOUS rain and the wind HOWLING. I had no clue what was going on. Got up and looked out the window, then back to bed. We've been having gusts around 40 - 45 MPH now.

Anyone in the Galveston / Texas City area needs to get the eff out. National Weather Service is even warning the media to get out because of the amount of storm surge already slamming the breakwater at Galveston Island. They are expecting waves to crest above this walls' height. Last time this region saw a storm like this was about a century ago. The right side of the storms' eye is tracking straight to Houston too - this is not the side of the storm you want to be on.

And just an FYI for everyone in general: this storm is expected to have some impact on oil refining production (a big chunk comes from where Ike is going to hit). You may want to tank up the car since there's a lot of speculation of a price spike at the pumps later this weekend or early next week.

And upload them some where just in case. Having pics of all your stuff will be very helpful for insurance if your house gets nailed.

    Good luck. Stay safe.

It was supposed to be heading right for me in Corpus. Me and my roommate live on Padre Island, so we were really worried, had our mattresses in the bathroom, bags packed, everything of value ready to be movedto the car and driven out, then the storm turned north overnight so we'll probably stay here. It's still offshore, and 100 mi. North, and coastal roads an docks are flooding. My roommate and I are headed to a buddy's apartment inland for tonight just in case the bridge gets flooded.
