It's good to see some phones reverting back to the hard keyboards instead of the "on-screen" ones. I hate the latter as I always press the wrong keys.

Might be worth trading in the VX9800 for, maybe.

No list of said cities specifically - my guess is that this will be known as the release date approaches (LA, NYC, Houston & Miami were mentioned in todays' news). I would suspect other large metro areas like Chicago, Dallas, the Bay Area and Portland or Seattle in the PNW are targeted. Keep checking the tech news sources.

You can preorder it now through my.t-mobile.com I was gonna get it, but the data plan is required, and it's not worth an extra $20/month to have it.

So you can't use it without a data plan?

I don't know why you'd want to use it without a data plan. I don't know why you'd want any of the current crop of touch screen phones at all though. They are all packed with tons of features that don't work very well.

Nope, it says on the t mobile site that you can't use the phone without a data plan.

I really don't want the data plan, I have a dash and the wifi is plenty, I don't need internet while I'm out. It's a bit ridiculous IMO for a phone to have wifi, but require the data plan. Although my dad said his blackberry needed the data plan to use wifi, but it doesn't, so I don't know.

Wifi is built into the Blackberry, even if you don't have the data plan you can get online at hotspots, or places that have free Wi-fi. There are a few good reasons to have wi-fi enabled phones or in T-Mobile's blackberry case, a wi-fi / UMA phone. I get no signal at home and make all my calls on my Blackberry through my wireless router... Those calls are not extra, they simply utilize UMA to make the calls and are billed as regular calls.

Yes, you can but you won't be using the phone for the purpose it exists. Pretty much the same thing as the iPhone.

BTW, unlimited MMS (picture/video/voice), or MMS period, is data... Even SMS (text msgs) after a certain limit goes through as data.

I use my Dash currently on wi-fi and it's free. It would suck to have to pay and extra $20/mo for a data plan that does the same thing.

So it has a data limit of 1GB?

And only has 1 gig of storage as well? No headphone jack? What were they thinking?

Yea, but you can get unlimited MMS and SMS for $10, or 400 for $5, which is what I have now.

And I misread it, you don't need it to use the phone, but you do need it to buy the phone, at least for now.

I got up to the checkout on it just to see, and it totals $346.61 with a 2 year upgrade, fuck that.
