I disagree....everyone who buys a car is aware of the status they will project. Choice + Budget are two main factors with status being either a high priority or low. Let me ask you, what perception does owning a Corolla convey? Are you saying that its absolute? Status/No Status. 90% of the e30 drivers you see bought their cars KNOWING they were buying a BMW, regardless of whether its an E30.

probably has already been quoted but
Oh and lowering an E30? I don't care. It's an old BMW that signifies no luxury or status whatsoever. Do whatever you want to make it look better. Anything helps, I guess. I'm talking about the BMW's that educated, hard-working members of society buy. Not ones you can get for less than a Honda Civic.
    what a tool..

To me, a 3-er is not a "luxury sedan" its a sports car.

You feel larger than life? Haha, that is sad man. It is not pre-wired in us to be superficial like that. It's just a stranglehold that society has on the weaklings.

I could have bought a new BMW a while ago now, but I chose to have an e30 and a pretty old pickup because it meant that I could afford to buy a house. I could seriously care less what some douchebag or a stupid hoe thinks about my car.

that is a very good reason. i like your logic of thinking. and when i bought my e30 i was never concerned about my status in life. i need to graduate first, get a good job (other than making pizzas), some other things, and then i should worry about status.

wait, just kidding. i dont really care about status. i love what i drive for the reason i bought it.

And I hope that isn't you that is debating with him. The guy with the e30 in his sig isn't the sharpest tool in the shed either.
sadly it is me. i was just getting aggravated. but i did have quite a few laughs. and when i do get all rallied up, i cannot put my thoughts together in one piece. i know, it makes me look just as bad..but some people amaze me with the words they say.

ONE of the main things i simply cannot comprehend is the whole '4' series thing. wtf is this guy thinking?

Holy crap. That forum is full of douche bags. Every side of ever argument in that thread has a dumb ass. I wish I had got into a brand that doesn't have such a poor image and still has quality. Audi?

I have been misled by all you r3v assholes. I though my car was pimp and very high class.

Seriously, that thread is not too far away from what happens here. One guy is a pretender, one guy is a douche, other guy is a post-whore. Whole lot of laughing bystanders.

Just imagine a car pull up to a valet 5-star restaurant:

    1. e30 with a 20-year old driver
    2. e92 with a 20-year old driver
    3. flagship BMW with an "older" driver

Somethings are just prewired within us.
