If you want raw denim, go with G-Stars. I think they're a little more edgy/modern in the styling.

I don't really mind paying $150-250 for a pair of jeans if they're made of quality Japanese denim and hand-sewn in the USA. Most of them cost the manufacturer $50-100 per pair to make... it's skilled labor. And you're even supporting small businesses here in the US ;). Check out Earnest Sewn jeans. They make really basic jeans (no crazy low-rise or embroidered pockets) that are incredible quality... will definitely last many years.

Steer clear of True Religion; they're expensive and total shit quality.

Don't you sort of have to be hyperconscious just to be aware that people may realize the difference one way or another? Based on what you're saying you have to go to great lengths to just look normal and casual. If it takes that much effort to feel comfortable in what you're wearing you need to have a good look in the mirror.

That's not a matter of style though - that's just self respect. What kills me is when people TRY to look shitty. I really don't understand it - fashion. Why not just dress how you want? People make it so difficult to dress themselves.
