Cool project!

We make metal Alpina flares at SCR. We also have a true Alpina front spoiler that was sourced from Germany for one of or Alpina flared projects. We have used a set of the Ireland sold fiberglass units. We find them great for a race car but for a complete restorations metal flares yield a better finish not to mention a steel 02 fender weighs almost the same as a fiberglass fender.

not everyone has matt mcginn and a full metal shop at their disposal. matt does beautiful quality work but fiberglass flares bonded and prepped properly will net very nice results as seen in gregs car

I don't get what's the big deal about finding one for sale. These examples look like a DIY'er could do it in a weekend.

I dunno, must be more to it than meets the eye, but i'm pretty confident there's alot of us that could make that and mold some brake ducts into it.

The car looks great BTW. Nice work. I love anything with Kamei on it!

i've seen matt's work(viewed the galleries multiple times) and i know its good but im on the west coast and trailering my car there would've cost more than the entire restoration. My car is far from flawless and i will be the first one to tell you but its meant to run laps around my dad in his e30 on the track not necessarily win the concours.

the plan all along was to make one out of fiberglass but step that is time consuming is making a mold for the spoiler. Plus fiberglass isnt super cheap when you have to buy all the materials to do a one off. IF its so easy you can come make me one

i believe they made them out of sheet steel back in the day but im not completely sure. most/all repros are fiberglass

The front spoiler would be an easy part to replicate. We do have a factory Alpina spoiler that I could use to make a mold or take measurements to build one out of steel. If that part can help you guys and the build let me know.

Im sure you know from the FAQ that there is big demand for this spoiler stateside. Please please please take a mold of the original and start pumping some out.

Nate, are those the flares currently on matt's flared car? The one with the widened tranny tunnel and Colorado engine bay? I never knew you guys had a genuine alpina front spoiler.

Also, are you guys fully moved into the new place? I went and checked it out with Justin a couple weeks ago, but haven't seen it with all the bells and whistles. Looks awesome though. I'll stop by sometime this week with beer and whatnot.

if you guys want to make one out of steel id be your first customer. I can take tons of photos and measurements if you want to take on the project. pm me and i'll send you my email addy. I have jaymic and cahsel working on this currently to see if they have any molds that match these flares but a metal piece would be fantastic. BTW this is benetton not g dub

benetton has visions of grandeur.
btw - the car may not be concours, but it is damn nice. i'd drive it anywhere. and the best part is it is set up to be a driver's car.

we're getting pretty excited to fire off the motor for the first time and get it rolling down the road.

and i'd be very interested in the front spoiler as well. there would be interest on the faq site.
