Ok, lets use an academic model that places words at opposite ends to artificially make it look like they are completely opposite when in reality they have their roots in the same ideals and are just branches of the same idea. Fascism and communism are both forms of socialism. They both want to destroy the free market system and create total power for one governement, one corporation. A monopolistic entity that tell the people what is better for them to do. I called you an idiot because you said Hitler was not socialist.

Hitler and fascism were absolutely not socialism. First of all, socialism promotes everybody as economically and socially equal. What would Hitler think of Jews and homosexuals being his equal? Second, fascist states have corporate governments in which capital still exists. This is in direct contradiction to socialism where corporations and capital do not exist in any way shape or form.Ok, lets use an academic model that places words at opposite ends to artificially make it look like they are completely opposite when in reality they have their roots in the same ideals and are just branches of the same idea. Also, if Germany was Socialist, why were they so intent on taking over Russia, a socialist state?Comment

What are you talking about? No post that you have made has any sort of evidence or any form of logical argument whatsoever. You are making claims that are simply not true.Comment

I don't understand why everyone wants to be the same as everyone else. We all drive the same cars, go to jobs that we are told we have to perform, get paid the same regardless of skill or ability, take the same meds, live in the same homes, watch the same tv programs, etc. maybe you're not advocating a socialist society... but that's how I took it.

Also, you do understand that socialism failed because of globalization, right?PNW Crew

Well I think people are getting socialism and communism confused here. Right now, everybody has their panties in a knot because of Obama's so called communist economic policies of which are nothing like what Hitler's economic policies were. For that matter, they are nothing like the economic policies of Russia or any communist country. It is true, however, that Nazism adopted some of the broader philosophical aspects of socialism of which communism is a part of, but threw out the socialist values of economic and social equality which are really its defining aspects. What we are talking about here though, is the economic policies and how they relate to Obama, which is very little.Germany is the home of socialism.

Also, socialism died because capitalism had plenty of room to grow and still does. Marx argued, as did I in the other thread that you are likely referring to, that there are contradictions within capitalism which will eventually lead to it destroying itself. Think of it this way. Capitalism needs to grow to survive. There is a point however, where it can't grow anymore. This is when labor, resources, etc. cost the same across the globe (aka globalization). We aren't there yet. When this happens, capitalism will die and socialism will take over.Last edited by Guest; 11-02-2008, 06:22 PM.Comment

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
 ~ Barack Obama.

Obame isn't like Hitler, he just has aspirations.

See this is one of those fallacies that I was speaking of. Your statement implies some sort of ideological connection between Hitler and Obama when in reality there is none. It amazes me how many people can hear something like this and believe it. What does it mean to be like something? Am I like Hitler because I have aspirations? Everything is "like" everything else.Comment
