Question about "PC" ethnic terms...

There are racist pieces of shit on every race. Blacks, whites, mexicans, etc. I think an African american likes to be called african american, because he is proud of his heritage and origin. Just like I am never called white, just the Polak (half polish and half german). I like it, I embrace my nationality. If I were just referred to as an american, Id feel like my ancestry was lost, and I was the same as an irish american.

If a black man wants to be considered an African American, thats totally fine. Who are we to wash out their past/ancestry/heritage/etc? African American is just referring to their origin, not their skin color.

I'm not an obama supporter by any means (for his policies), but you cant ignore the historical signifigance of the first "black" president. I mean, we've had nothing but old, white dudes for over 230 years. Maybe it's time for something new.

actually, I'm curious if he'll have a scandal-free predisdency.. we haven't had that for the last two presidents. And as much as I dislike Obama, at least we're finally rid of GWB..

and in communistic societies the people are assimilated. no i mean race, it is bigotry to force me to denounce my race and adopt the race of "American". i have no problem with america so i will continue to refer to my self as an AFRICAN-American, not as an American who acts black.

im not saying that its possible the eradicate racism completely, i am saying that you are using race and ethnicity as synonyms.

Ethics has nothing to do with it. race is biological and deals with physical traits whereas ethnicity deals with cultural heritage.
