Kerry got almost 90% of the black vote and he was rediculously uninspiring. Gore too.

I'd venture a guess that the number blacks who voted for Obama solely because of his skin color is about equal to the number of whites who voted for McCain because of his.

There was not ONE reason not to vote for Obama. Except partisanery.

Actually Lee there was a couple reasons why he missed some votes.
Hate and fear cultivated by the McCain campaign, and the fear and hate cultivated for generations, by racist americans not willing to vote for someone because of his skin color...

You are a fucking racist! Johnson gave every one the right to go to school and work. You would have let it stand, that only whites could?

July 2, 1964) was a landmark piece of legislation in the United States that outlawed racial segregation in schools, public places, and employment. Conceived to help African Americans, the bill was amended prior to passage to protect women, and explicitly included white people for the first time. It also created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
In order to circumvent limitations on congressional power to enforce the Equal Protection Clause imposed by the Supreme Court in the Civil Rights Cases, the law was passed under the Commerce Clause, which had been interpreted by the courts as a broad grant of congressional power. Once the Act was implemented, its effects were far reaching and had tremendous long-term impacts on the whole country. It prohibited discrimination in public facilities, in government, and in employment, invalidating the Jim Crow laws in the southern U.S. It became illegal to compel segregation of the races in schools, housing, or hiring. Powers given to enforce the bill were initially weak, but were supplemented during later years

It is indeed amazing to think that only until 44 years ago, while some of us here were already born, segreagation was an accepted and legal situation. Amazing that it was accepted in the land of Milk and Honey and open opportunities, that there were two classes of citizens, split in two based by the color of their skin. 44 years ago is not far.

1964 is 3 years after BMW Neue Klasses started with the 1500. This is not medieval ages. That's only two generations. But sadly, it seems that the same spirit that found segregation normal back in the days, is still pretty much alive and rampant in 2008. Having a "coloured" president will hopefully allow some people to open their eyes, and realize that black is not the colour of evil.

I seriously doubt he won solely because he was black. But, his color and unusual upbringing added to the image he sought to project. Had he been white, there's no way he could have made such sweeping generalizations and made himself stand out from the rest of the politicians. His being black added to the mystique of him being an outsider and an agent of change. It worked on people of all skin colors. If he had been white do you think he could have beaten Hilary Clinton for the nomination?

Russia is already moving on Poland amongst other nice things that have suddenly been done around the world. Obama's side kick Biden called it. Enjoy.

Seems to me that you guys keep talking about race. I could car less. Stop pointing it out all the time. If you really didn't care about it then it wouldn't always be on the tip of you tongue. Why is it that their is so much focused on black people (no not African Americans, they aren't F'ing African Americans. All that does is further separate/segregate. We are Americans. I don't call myself a Czech American. My friend is white and was born in Africa and lived there till his teens. He has been attacked for mentioning he is African. Kinda wierd...any who) What about Asians? How bout them? Why don't you hear about their hardships? Why don't they get the help others do?
