    America once cared about liberty.
Yes, freedom of speech is indeed applied in most industrial countries of the world with only a few exceptions. Who cares about carrying a gun? I feel much safer knowing that people are not carrying guns around me. Rights to a fair trial is also the norm mostly in every other country. Come on. When was the last time you have travelled abroad?

And the good ol' time when America once cared about liberties: segregation, slavery, witch hunts, McCarthysm, Sacco and Vanzetti, high number of assassinated presidents, death penalty, Guantanamo, Chile, Argentina, Panama etc...

You have a few good points here...

      However...

Germany, Australia, Great Briton / England, France, Spain...ad infinitum (and yes Canada) would be 3rd world if it was not for the gun totin' looneys of The United States.

Go take a trip to some of the places you mentioned (Chile, Argentina, Panama...And yes I've been to all of them) It will all end up like that soon.

...or I could be wrong and everything will be just peachy keen.

Don't worry I'll be sure to shoot you in the gut with a revolver since you're so against "assault" rifles. I'd hate to kill you with something you are against; that would be just wrong.

When the United States was founded and the constitution was written, the United States was the only country that put "the right to bear arms" in the constitution. Thats what separates us from any other country in the world.

Our constitution cant be amended. Whats to say that something like freedom of Speech cant be amended later on because people don't like it? It was put in there for a reason and that is not a topic to be challenged.

DC vs Heller case this year, upheld the Constitution against the Illegal gun ban of the District of Columbia. The Supreme court sided with the people and said it is a right of the American public. And not to be altered by governing laws or bans.

Check out Waco and Ruby ridge if you feel the Government does not abuse powers. The right to bear arms was for the people to protect themselves against the abuses such as those.

Maybe Ill post my new items built for the celebration of the Obama presidency!

I agree but won't go into the extremes that is Waco, Tx and Ruby Ridge. There was definitely abuse there though.

On a side note, today is the lady's birthday. We started it off with a bang, or should I say many a bangs. Outdoor ranges and fist-size groupings FTMW...

If I could afford it, I would pick up a rifle in a heartbeat. I was really wanting whoever's Russian that was posted a few days ago.

I agree with you 100% on that. I have been doing a lot of reading on the Fairness doctrine. Thats what I hinted at when I said freedom of speech earlier......

Ok just finished building the one AR and will have the other one done this week sometime.

The complete one is a LMT M4 16" with Daniel Defense rail, Tango Down forward grip, and LMT SOPMOD stock. Full auto carrier and standard fire control parts. Rear BUIS is the ARMS 40L. Runs like a top.

The incomplete AR is a POF billet Gen II lower with Magpul MAID grip and Vltor Club foot stock. Standard fire control parts. Working on a Piston upper to run with my YHM 5.56 Phantom suppressor.

the pistol is a Sig 220 carry. My first Sig in the family. So far so good...

                      More to come!

To answer questions before they are asked. Why do I need them? They are my right as an American citizen and I shoot on a professional level. I do 3 gun matches. Youtube it if you dont know. I also instruct firearm safety and tactical shooting classes. NRA life member and instructor!

                          Hey Vedub

Great discipline you are into. Really. You are using your guns, the same way I use my M3 on the track. Just to get better in my discipline and improve my skills. I think both are honourable. At least you are not buying guns with the false pretention that you need them to defend your family...

You should get a Hogue grip on your AR; I love mine. I have an AK that had a Dragonov stock on it (the lame thumbhole stock you know?) and I actually cut the stock and shaped the wood and then bought a EAA grip for it. Its like a whole different gun and feels great. Before I did that it would hurt my hand.

That is the AK before I did some changes.

I think the literally thousands of people here in the states that have used a weapons to protect their family would beg to differ.

Lee, I do train people in firearm safety. It is to protect your family and defend yourself. Most states here have what they call the Castle doctrine. The right to defend your property and your well being. In the confinements of your own home or extension of your home. I also CCW. I have the right to carry concealed in most places. Excluding Federal buildings, event gatherings, bars, and any place that is posted. Im not out to be looking for someone to save or be some hero. I do it for the protection of myself. I hope I will never have to draw out my weapon. And 7 years and running I have never had to. About 80% of my friends dont even know I carry.

I also use it as a sport like you and your track time with your car. Banning such weapons will kill our sport. There will never be confiscation of firearms just that ones cant be made after certain date and sold to the civilian market. The Gun industry can not depend on military sales alone to stay in business. Government takes the cheapest bids. Thats not good for a free market.

I do train just like the military does. In that we go to abandoned hotels and obstacle courses and train on how to clear rooms and work in teams. I enjoy it more as a sport but its also knowledge for just in case. These courses are not cheap by no means. Some courses can run you $1000 per day plus ammo and gear. Its almost as expensive as racing a car. But I get satisfaction just as you do on a good day at the track. I learned something and I put my skills to the test.

I hope that I will never have to use my skills in the real world. People talk about the end of times and how anarchy will break out. In small situations here in America we have seen TEOTWAWKI. Katrina, and Andrew were two. The government was not able to help people and people had no other option but to defend ones territory and belongings. In Canada you guys have no idea what its like to go though something like that. ME being in Miami, I have seen my fair share. But thank God that things have been civil enough where I did not see first hand deadly force used or applied.

Guns are what America was founded on. Guns were written into the Constitution to protect its people against the Government. Our country was founded by settlers that were prosecuted for religious beliefs and over taxation. The Boston tea party was an example of the common people rising up fighting the English and their laws. And it should remain enacted for that single reason.

I think penalties should be heavily increased when guns are used in a crime. I had earlier this year a friend of mine paralyzed from the neck down do to a hate crime involving a firearm. The guy that shot my friend will do 15 years and will walk again. My friend will never be able to have that freedom. I feel that guy should suffer the same if not worse than my friend as justice to the crime.

But people like you and me, (you being American living in America) should not be punished because of a few people that use a gun ( a tool ) in a crime. People here got their panties in a wad when I was using Guilt by Association with Obama and his freinds. Dont judge me and my intent to use firearms in a safely manor that is not breaking any laws.
