    From newsweek
Welcome to Trader Joe's. About all this 210-store U.S. chain shares with Germany's Aldi Group -- besides being owned by a trust created by Aldi co-founder Theo Albrecht -- is its rigorous control over costs. But where Aldi carries such basics as toilet paper and canned peas, TJ's, as it's known, stocks eclectic and upscale foodstuffs for the wine-and-cheese set at down-to-earth prices.

Yea in Chicago we have an Aldi in most neighborhoods. There is one two blocks from me to the west. The one mile past that. Another two miles East. They are pretty abundant in Chicago. I Have grown up at Aldi's. They have he greatest Honey BBQ wings. They come in a yellow box. Im eating them now actually....MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm Aldi. AND my cousin took a risk and bought a computer from there and it actually was a decent computer.

How so? From what I gathered it was all "off brand" new condition food and such. It's not like they are huying damadged goods from food manufacturers and reselling... If they were doing that they would be selling general mills cereals.

Fuck Trader Joe's. I've gotten sick twice from their food and I've heard of a few friends having the same problem.

Whole Foods is way better....more expensive, which usually means better.

they may have changed but the 2 I have been in (its been years though) had lots of scratch an dent caned goods and produce, dry goods in big zip locks to keep the shit contained. and stuff like that.

I can't speak for the other products in the store, but I know that the "private label wine" is manufactured by the same suppliers as brands you would find in any other major chain; i.e., Albertson's, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc. Its more or less repackaged major brands.

As a distributor, we love them. We simply drop off pallets of wine and they merchandise everything. We don't even have a sales rep calling on them. They and Trader Joe's sell A LOT of wine also.

Been around here for a while. The ones in Ohio sell beer and wine, in KY they do not. (?).

I like Trader Joe's tortilla chips. You get like 2 lbs for a few bucks, and the chips can stand up to the abuse of the heaviest of salsas.

Some of the Aldi stores around here are in the 'hood. But most are in more subrurban areas. The one closest to us, you are as likely to see a newer Benz in the lot as you are a 93 Escort with mismatched colored doors.
