Please explain why having no dipstick is better, because the sensor certainly isn't as reliable as a simple visual check, nor does it tell exactly how much to add.
I guess the dipstick is in the driver's seat now. :giggle:
I do all my own work. Besides, sometimes, I want the interior lights to come when I open the door, sometimes not. Why the hell can't I do this myself? How is having to go find someone else to do it at a great waste of my time better?
Here's another reason I won't buy a new one:
On older cars, when the thermostat starts to go bad, or you are at the start of an overheating issue, you can tell very early by simply observing the behavior of the gauge that moved up and down depending on the actual temperature of the engine. E46's don't do that-they have a "buffered" gauge-because stupid people whined to the dealer that it moved-so BMW said "Fine. From now on, once the engine is warmed up, it won't budge-unless your engine is melting down." Now, there's no gauge at all! Only an Idiot light, so when the weakass plastic shit under the hood cracks and lets the coolant spray everywhere, you'll be told by an "Indicator Light" AKA Replace Engine Soon light that it's time to call AAA.
I guess we really don't need a gas gauge anymore either, huh? After all, the computer knows how much fuel is on board and is monitoring fuel flow and your driving habits. How soon until we have a "Refuel Soon Light" to replace that redundant gauge? If you do not have a manual transmission, get rid of that redundant tach while you're at it! The computer will shift when it needs to.
No thanks to any of the above. I guess I'm too much of a driver, and less of a passive passenger who happens to be steering.
Driver's cars forever! Rolling annuities never!
