All you do is push a button on the steering column and it gives you a graphic display of the oil level. Hell the car will tell you if it needs oil even!
Please explain why having no dipstick is better, because the sensor certainly isn't as reliable as a simple visual check, nor does it tell exactly how much to add.

I guess the dipstick is in the driver's seat now. :giggle:

I do all my own work. Besides, sometimes, I want the interior lights to come when I open the door, sometimes not. Why the hell can't I do this myself? How is having to go find someone else to do it at a great waste of my time better?

    Here's another reason I won't buy a new one:

On older cars, when the thermostat starts to go bad, or you are at the start of an overheating issue, you can tell very early by simply observing the behavior of the gauge that moved up and down depending on the actual temperature of the engine. E46's don't do that-they have a "buffered" gauge-because stupid people whined to the dealer that it moved-so BMW said "Fine. From now on, once the engine is warmed up, it won't budge-unless your engine is melting down." Now, there's no gauge at all! Only an Idiot light, so when the weakass plastic shit under the hood cracks and lets the coolant spray everywhere, you'll be told by an "Indicator Light" AKA Replace Engine Soon light that it's time to call AAA.

I guess we really don't need a gas gauge anymore either, huh? After all, the computer knows how much fuel is on board and is monitoring fuel flow and your driving habits. How soon until we have a "Refuel Soon Light" to replace that redundant gauge? If you do not have a manual transmission, get rid of that redundant tach while you're at it! The computer will shift when it needs to.

No thanks to any of the above. I guess I'm too much of a driver, and less of a passive passenger who happens to be steering.

Driver's cars forever! Rolling annuities never!

Shit. I'm an asshole. I got busy and forgot about this thread....

If anyone who asked questions sees this:

      e28's are good with me.

My wheels are 18x8.5 but I now have the stockers back on for now.

I live in Hollywood, but originally from SD.. Moving back there on the first.

Kevin....wtf? Shoot me a PM and let's hang out some time.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. There are a lot of nice cars on this board, e30, e28, and e34 alike. Any older BMW is cool to me.

Hope that covers all the posts I missed. Again, I'm an ass. If you didn't get replied to, send me a PM.

      Cheers,
      Brian

I like the "Ronin" plate. You should have come to the meet on Saturday! E34 ///M5 would have been the cherry on the topping!

This car is local... I can vouch for its perfectness. Its not a genuine M535i but it does have all of the correct pieces. I believe it started as a 535is. I'd say it's easily worth what he is asking for it.

M30B33 was the higher compression M30 used in the E28 533i.
M30B34 was the lower compression M30 used in all E28 535i/535is/M535i cars.
Getrag 265 was the five-speed manual transmission that accompanied the M30B34.

The euro bumper swap is quite a bit more difficult than the simple swap with the E30's. The US frame rails must be modified to use the correct euro frame rails, a non-rusty euro valence must be sourced, non-rusty euro bumpers and non-rusty mounting hardware must be sourced (or bought from the dealer.) You won't complete the job correctly for less than $7-800 easily.

That's obviously an option though, the US bumpers make great parking benches and they can absorb much more of an impact than their euro counterparts.

Hollywood. The problem is not that the car is in SD, the problem is that I'm poor and the car is a 15 footer right now with a few running issues. Once I finish STEP however, I will be doing a full resto on it and you can be sure you will see me at meets again. In the mean time however I am collecting parts for a much more affordable project. Euro e30 clone. Hope to have most of the parts together by the time I finish school. Then it will be a matter of finding the right '87 IS to put it all in. That should be a quick project to hold me over for the M5.
