I don't remember, but it is definitely possible that they had a S3.46 in the later autos, but this might have been an 528e-only thing. I ended up grabbing a 3.46 from a 528e.
Pre-3/87 528eA's came with 2.93 open, post-3/87 528eA's came with 3.46 LSD, pre-3/87 528e's came with 2.93 (open or LSD?), post-3/87 528e's came with 3.25 (open or LSD?), ALL 535i's and 535iA's came with 3.25 (open or LSD?), and it is my understanding that all 535is' (manual or auto) came with the 3.25 LSD.- Trey

It is called free market, an iS is a fairly desirable car, if it is priced anywhere near right it should sell in short order, not 1.5 years on the market.
This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

Why is it a "free market" - the car isn't "free" it's $600!!!! Please explain, you seem to know more than me on the subject.
Think of it this way, tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of people look at CL every day, $600 is fairly inexpensive, so if the car is constantly posted in 2-5 ads at a time, every day for a year and a half, and it is priced at or near a reasonable price someone should come along and snatch it up, given the work it needs and the cars I have purchased in the past and how much I have paid I believe it is priced too high, broken cars just don't sell for much.
If I really wanted the car then I would go ahead and pay a few hundred extra dollars, and it seems that someone would have done this at some point in the last year and a half, but it just sits, so it makes me wonder what I am not seeing, the market seems to be soft for old BMWs in the bay area, just so many of them around that they are an old car piling up in the junk yard.
The market value of any item is not the asking price or what someone "would pay if they had the money", but what the highest bidder offers.

Example...
Lets sat jack has a car, he has washed it every week, changed the oil, sits in it every nite, jack loves this car and wants $2000 for it, he tries to sell it for a year...
Bill offers $700
Jeff offers $600
Jane offers $750
Market value would be the highest offer, $750, if it is worth $2000 to Jack and so he won't sell it then that doesn't make it worth $2000, that just means he is more interested in keeping his car than selling it for what he was offered, most likely he would not pay $2000 if someone else was selling said car...
