Israel gave back the Gaza strip back in 2006 if I recall. This was part of an act for peace. It did nothing but allow the Hamas to fire more of its rockets deeper into Israel. Israel forced their own out of their houses and displaced their own looking for a peace solution. Hamas was the ones that foiled that and they pay the price.
