to be fair on your situation Jflipp, it is your choice to not be home. as long as the bills are not sky high, because you are all roommates, you are still responsible for an equal portion of the bills. if you were so uncomfortable there you should have
A: done something about it by: cleaning up the house yourself (i have done this myself, it sucks!)
B: make the roommates fall in line and not eat your food and clean up after themselves
C: move in with your G/F.
on the other side of the coin, if your G/F has a roommate/s, it is not fair for you to be over there constantly and not paying rent or a share of the bills. if my roommates have people over all of the time past 3 nights a week on a regular basis, they can chip in for the utilities. especially if they are using the shower, laundry, cooking, ETC.Leave a comment:

Ive lived with roommates (my bestfriend, and also best female friend). Sucked. Period. Dirty dishes, dirty house, ate my food. I was never home, I was ALWAYS At my girlfriends, and stayed the night there 6 out of 7 days a week. Then was expected to pay 1/2 the electricity (since it was 2 BR). OK Luke here is some real advice.
i have been living with roommate since i was 23. most of the time i end up being the "house mom" which sucks, but i always have the master and i am the main person on the lease, with the utilities in my name, etc. most if not all of the common stuff in the house is mine too.
it is going to be hard be cause there is a pretty big age gap. people in general are fuck ups until around 23. most of the kids around this age had a different up bringing from you and i (i am just shy of 37). basically their parents sheltered their ego's and never really taught them how to be considerate of others. they will test the limits (either consciously or unconsciously ) until you drop the hammer on them. once you have talked tom them. EVERYTIME they exceed the boundaries crop the hammer again. it will only take a few times to get them to fall in line.
it really doesn't sound like too bad of a set up to be honest. exert your authority over these fucking KIDS and don't let them run you over. you have the same rights that they do in the house!
once you get that sorted, go to them and say "hey guys, i am going to start cutting wood in the garage. lets condense your crap so i don't get saw dust all over everything and I will buy some tarps to keep the dust off of them" just sweep up you mess as best you can when you are done, basically the same you would like them to do.
as to the eating of food and using of your stuff.
if they use your laundry soap. buy a cheap bottle of soap and mix it 50/50- 70/30 with BLEACH. if it is yours they should not be using it with out asking first. they will pay the price for it.
using your shampoo. mix nare (sp) in the shampoo or conditioner. it wont be on their head long enough to make hair fall out, but it will turn it into a kinky assed Afro!
using your razor. take a new one and go drag it in the sidewalk a couple of times them put the cap back on it and leave it out. see who looks like they go attacked by a cat and you will have your culprit.
eating your food. baby laxative works wonders and can be hidden in food you cook in sauces or frosting's. i made cheese cake with Lact-o-loose because i knew my shitty roommate would eat it w/o asking me. 2 pieces left her shitting for 2 days straight. the same girl was eating my cookies, so i replaced mine with DOG cookies for a month while she continues to eat them until i gave one to the dog in front of her.
once you inflict a little justice, just tell them, "it is ok if you use some of my stuff in an emergency if you run out, just replace it by the next day." odds are they wont even touch it.
if they are keeping you up at night by partying all hours, tell them. if that doesn't solve it, get up early and make a fuck load of noise the next morning, they will get the hint.
leaving the garage door open and letting the heat out....see the door open, time to yell "who the fuck left the god dam door open again?" "do you want another big fucking heating bill again????" "What the FUCK is wrong with you???" problem will solve itself.
nasty shit left in the fridge. clean the whole motherfucker out. fucking everything that is even remotely old looking. continue to do that. they will get the idea.
Being nice wont get you anywhere with kids. drop the hammer on them until they fall in line. once that happens, swing the hammer as you see fit.

Wow - that's no good. Makes living with my sister look like a cakewalk. We get along and all but she's completely OCD when it comes to cleaning. I try to keep tidy and all but when my shit starts disappearing it drives me nuts!!
