No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan. -
Let's hear it for itemized deductions!
Between mortgage interest & the wife's grad school tuition, pulling a nice little refund for a change.

Federal: Paying off two credit cards (under $500 each). Doing a front bumper swap, buying some 16x8's (probably slips) and tires, timing belt change (water pump + tune up at the same time).
State: savings account for my move to brooklyn this fall.
Being a college student means, my tuition = tax credit. W0oT!11!Comment

I was serious. All the things that could possibly count as "deductions" or "writeoffs". Is is bad enough to the point that small business isnt profitable?Comment

Don't sell me anything!
Whatever I get is going onto a 87 Civic Hatchback. I guess that won't stop anyone from selling to me but this is the year my entire refund goes to bills, not going to be much since I have been unemployed since April. I have been saying that since highschool but I really gotta get rid of my debt, going to reward myself later by going to Pismo Beach and Big Sur in the Fall.sigpicComment

I get hammered every year - but this time I can itemize. I can deduct my house, tuition, books, donations, ect. Last year I owed 5 figures. I think this year I'm better prepared. If I break even I'll be thrilled. If I get anything back it's hitting the stock market."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

i worked at this car wash for a little over two months. Since they were new, they were just going to pay their employees in cash until they figured out who they were going to keep. Well, they kept me around, but they never claimed me as an employee and continued to pay me in cash. When another job came up, i left the car wash and figured that was the end of it.
Well, about a month ago, i got a 1099 form from the car wash place, the same kind of form that my dad fills out for his subcontractors (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc) meaning they had hired me as a private employee, or whatever the term is. It sucks b/c i was still their employee: they told me what to do, i had to supply my own uniform, i had scheduled hours. My tax lady told me there's nothing i can do; i can report the car wash place but that would just force them to submit a W2 so i would still have to pay tax on the ~$800 i grossed. Fucking slimeballs.
Whatever money i get back is going to be spent on new suspension or saved in my 2.45% savings account.Comment
