I was amazed to see the world thru new eyes. I did not realize how bad my vision was until the moment the guy behind the counter leaned foreword and placed the glasses on my head. I instantly was silenced. It was if my whole existence had changed. I am more relaxed behind the wheel ( because I am not trying to see what is going on), less stressed in my home life, watching TV is a whole new thing, My posture had improved, and in general I'm just much more happy.

I'm very much looking forward to that. That's pretty much exactly what the doc told me today.

Woah! You guys are freaking me out. I'm paranoid that I'll lose my sharp vision one day. I've never met anybody that can see as far as I can and small details at close range. I've taken it for granted because I'm 26, but my dad recently had to get reading glasses at 52 and he has always had great vision. I'm a machinist and my vision is extremely valuable to me. I've never been to an eye doctor before, but are there any precautions I can take to protect against this stuff like eating or not eating certain foods.

Sorry to hear about that! I have 20/15 vision in both eyes, but both my mom and grandmother (dad's side) are legally blind without glasses or contacts. My mom has a rare auto-immune allergic condition with her eyes and my grandmother has serious retina issues. Hope I haven't inherited any of those genes, but for now I do what I can to protect my eyes and wear sunglasses anytime I'm outside and the sun is out. Haven't been to the eye doctor in years but I ought to go.

My vision has been absolutely fucked since like the 2nd grade. I forget what the eye doctor said exactly, but it was something along the lines of my eyes deteriorating. I'll be 21 in april. Glasses arent that bad though, i love mine, i think i look weird without them.

That's exactly what I've compared it to. And it's pretty fucking amazing in that same respect watching TV. I have a 720p 50" Samsung, and the clarity of it has never been so apparent.

It's shocking to think about how well I thought I was seeing before them.

I'm told that all takes getting used to. I also see any square or rectangular shape as a trapezoid right now. What I was told is that is part of having an astigmatism, since my brain isn't used to seeing things in the proper shape, it's fighting the correction that the glasses make, but once my eyes are used the glasses, it will go away.

I've only been wearing them since noon, and while everything isn't perfect yet, it's already awful to take them off.
