I know you do man. I have said this before, only in another thread. i look at the fixed gear fad through a lifelong skateboarders eyes. It is an excuse to be different from the norm just like rollerblading was. There are people that belong on a fixed, then there is everyone else. Just like rollerblading. Street and vert BMX has been around forever just like skateboarding and it will outlast all of these "trends", just like skateboarding.
I am in no way opposed to you guys having fun, I just dont think guys should be rolling up their jeans or wearing Capri pants. Nor should they carry a purse and flip the bills to their caps up. Just my opinion, I think the bikes are pretty, but that's all they are. i respect a Haro subvert or a Yeti way more than these. Just like I think a sector 9 looks cool, or a snake board is different, they will never be a "skateboard". They are an offshoot of the "core" sport and the masses cling to them b/c they are easy to pick up and learn. I can see you guys learning how to ride bacwards or wheeelie these bikes, or learn fs and bs slides. But how many of you will ever do a handrail, or a backflip, or haul ass down a steep incline after a 10 mile climb on a trail, or drop into a 12ft vert ramp?
Very few. That's why I never quit skating, because it was all there for me. If I got on a long board, it was fun, but not the same.
JUST MY OPINION. Have fun and give 100% in whatever you have fun doing.Yours truly,
Rich
