Not always true. Remember Ted Turner, the über mega media mogul?
"In 1998, Turner pledged to donate $1 billion of his then $3 billion to United Nations causes, and created the United Nations Foundation to administer the gift. The foundation "builds and implements public-private partnerships to address the world’s most pressing problems, and broadens support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach." In 2006, the foundation delivered its billionth dollar to UN causes — $600m of which came from Turner and $400m from public and private partners. Turner has pledged to use the remaining $400m of his commitment to leverage additional funds for UN causes and activities."
Some people are more aware of other people's existence than others...
Hey dumb ass, Turner makes more money in one hour that you me and this forum + a few other forums, will make in a year combined. He dose not have to worry about what happens to the economy as he is all ready set. He can afford to be charitable and give away millions upon billions of dollars.
There is a old saying in this country. "You know you are rich when you have enough money to be a democrat."- UnknownOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
The Desire to Save Humanity is Always a False Front for the Urge to Rule it- H. L. Mencken
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants.

Hmmm. Following your reasoning, Donald Trump should pay no taxes. After all, he worked even harder than your parents...Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I guess i didn't complete my thought. sorry.
what i meant to make a point of is why should they pay more? because they have more? my dad started out with nothing and is a self made millionaire, how can anyone say that he should pay more because he has more?
Taxes should be at a SINGLE flat percent across the income bracket.
The majority is raping and stealing from the minority, and there isn't a thing they can legally do.Comment

Lee, you were pretty aggressive in your post (and many others) as well. And no one here is against helping people. Now if all that money had gone to taxes, would it have been donated as he wished? That's the whole point of capitalism. It's not a zero-sum game. Yes, some will not do as well as others, welcome to the natural condition of life. Meanwhile, as everyone striving to do better is what pushes the market and country up, and grows new consumer bases which in turn allows more people the opportunity to generate profit.
There is enough capacity within this system to help those who need a little help getting back on their feet. It cannot support entire populations or segments of the economy, nor can it function effectively if the basic premise of competition is tampered with. While it might make people feel good about themselves to say that wealth will be redistributed artificially, it hurts the underlying engine behind economic growth. It's like getting a sick person drunk. He will feel better for a while but eventually the root causes of the illness will crop up.sigpic89 M3Comment

It's a very valid point. Look, I'm a conservative but flat taxes won't work either. How do you come up with that number that everyone has to pay? What if a person can't pay that number? It's not a black and white thing man.. plenty of gray in there.Comment

Quadrupling the deficit the first month in office.
No wonder Obama wouldn't give any specifics while he was running and just stuck to the "Hope" & "Change" vague, ambiguous BSsigpic
