My friend has a Husqvarna... Great bike, it's his DD with like 25000 miles on it. He has had ZERO problems with it. He has had all the brands and he likes them the most.

I'm a couple weeks late but I'd vote against converting a MX bike for street use (like a crf450).
These newer 4 strokes in the race bikes are as powerful and high-strung as any 2 stroke. Just basing the reliability on the fact that it's a four stroke is barely scratching the surface. It is a RACE bike. High compression, low tolerances, and short maintenance intervals.
A properly abused 450 will need a piston ring (or at least have the motor pulled apart to check) in 20 hours.
I'd go for a dedicated dual sport, or convert a trail bike for street use. The MX bike would be so much more fun, but only for a week or so until it blows up.

IM ON IT!
No where in the world does a Husky get its brains fucked out like on this website..
just go log in and make a name and shit, the new guy forum is here. http://supermotojunkie.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 and since your use to R3V you wont ever get your feelings hurt over there.
Not that it breaks a lot but you have the dealership support so it looks like you should be okay.
Ask about valve train, SS valves, Titanium valves, five valve, four valve, valve adjustment intervals and so on, The new four strokes are like a fuckn F1 car in the precision department so make sure you know what your buying, A bike that needs service on a Hours schedule or Years..
maint, maint, maint, take care of it and it will take care of you!
and be warned, its worse than any e30 bug...and I must say you have nice taste. then again you are an E30 owner.

It's a cool bike. Get it if you can.
I rode a Kawasaki KT-250 when I was in High School, it was Kawa's answer to Bultaco at the time. A lightweight, high clearance torquey trials bike. I rode it on the street but 1st and 2nd gear were worthless, I started in 3rd gear. In the woods, 1st was good for about 6mph which was great for riding over logs and stuff.
Nothing could stop me.
I would get pulled over on the street ocassionaly, but I kept pulling over...all the way into the woods... and I never got a ticket.
