Governmental intervention in private businesses is nothing new, and is happening on a daily basis. Subsidies, commercial lobbies, commercial exchange regulations, etc. How do you think Harley-Davidson was saved from bankrupcy by Reagan's administration in the 1980's? The governement taxed importation of any motorcycle over 700cc (all being Japanese imports), then gave $$$ to HD to have them contract Porsche to redesign the Harley engine. What came out is a rejuvenation of the brand and mostly, of its antiquated engines. Is that still socialism?
