I really feel they should be able to serve but I have a problem with them sharing the same showers and restrooms with their straight counter parts.

And I do believe this is an issue of checking others out while in the showers and such. Being they are attracted to the same sex.

Oh, I agree. But this wont stop it from being a continued issue for those that don't feel comfortable around gays that share the same tight personal quarters.

I just think that it's stupid issues like this that distract from the larger issues. Should homosexuals be allowed to server in the military openly? SURE! But get it over with and move on to different stuff. I can't believe that this has been an issue as long as it has.

Dude, Gays already serve in the military, so it will be no different. That's one of the reasons why this is not an issue.

Just thought I would add my two cents in being that I served. If your gay its cool with me. The problem is if your gay keep it professional. Do not have any gay episodes/act outs. When I was in basic training I had a dude take a picture of me laying on my bunk bed. Man I was so mad you can see the steam coming off my head. I spoke to my Sargent about that shit asap plus did some other shit (don't ask don't tell) lol. So if your gay male or female its a field day looking, thinking, acting on, etc.. You having a good old time. No one straight at least as I know wants to have the same sex staring at their privates. There is nothing much anyone can do. Its just that bullsh*t that comes along with it like every other job. Just deal with it. When it comes to taking showers you leave when you see them coming and let them know they better hold their weight in the heat of battle.

If gays are willing to fight for our freedom I say we do whatever it takes to give them that option. If the straights are unhappy about sharing facilities, I say we spend the money to make separate facilities for the gays.

Not everyone can look past this issue. Plus when one day its just thrown at you and you have never been confronted before. You will go crazy raising hell. Hell no do not give them their own barracks. That will be to much legal issues. If anything everyone together.
