Those "hippies" sure act like conservatives when it comes to preserving the status quo. And even several key Repubs are on record against it now.

The Repubs have had several recent opportunities to address immigration and I can only assume they caved out of fear of a backlash.

There is no doubt that AZ's actions will hurt their economy for a while-I'd say at least 5 years. There's a lot of money flowing from the illegals right now, and when it goes away, pain will be felt by many legal business owners, many of whom who cater to the illegals will have to close shop.

This will be fascinating to watch.

Enforcement of laws against those who hire illegals is the only thing that will motivate them to become legal citizens. They come for the money, not our freedom, healthcare or any of the other bullshit people say. AZ had a huge housing boom and needed cheap labor to get shit work done. Jobs were what brought them to AZ. In NM, right next door we have way fewer illegals because there is no work for them here.

As far as boycotting AZ, that is fucking retarded. AZ is getting immigration reform prioritized nationally even if they are going about it in a somewhat extreme manner. At least they are doing something, albeit fucked.

Legalize pot, who fucking cares. Don't like it, don't smoke it. Educate your kids on why they should choose to not be hippy dippy fucking pothead useless eaters.

Right. I have bro-in-law career cop who plainly states "detective work largely consists of profiling". It's just a tool. It's illegal to pull someone over just because of skin color. But as he says "when experience dictates that people who look like X and drive cars that look like Y often have guns and drugs and I run the plates and find anything I can use to detain them, I am profiling. That's different than assuming ALL brown people are criminals. That's just stupid."
